Windows Mobile 6 on HTC S710 - Doesn't run

Postby lobstu » 18 Aug 2007, 20:27

Hi Goblin Hero,

Thanks for what I'm sure will be awesome software!

I tried to run the latest build on my HTC S710 using Windows Mobile 6. I extracted the archive on my PC, copied it over using ActiveSync, and ran it. First time, it warned me that the app was built for earlier versions of Windows Mobile. Then, it gave me an error:

Alert: Failed to create empty document.

I now get this error every time I try to run the app. The app is located at \My Documents\PocketMTG\ and the files in that folder are:

History.txt
MAGIC.ttf
Oracle.pdb
PocketMTG.ini
PocketMTG.exe

What could I be missing?

Thanks,
Robert

This program hasn't been tested on WM 6.0. I'll check this out.

Hi again,

I gave that new version a go. I'm afraid it still gives me the same error:

Alert: Failed to create empty document.

Not sure where else I can look to give you more diagnostics on the problem.

The problem is I can't reproduce the error on WM 6.0 emulator. I'll try to install one more SDK and test on it.

Same thing again I'm afraid :(

Might it be some sort of permissions issue?

Perhaps I shouldn't place the files in \My Documents\ ?

I've certainly got loads of free space (over 30Mb) so that can't be it.

No, looks like it is something with the OS. Can you tell me the exact OS version? Go to Settings->About.

Windows Mobile 6 Standard
CE OS 5.2.1235 (Build 17740.0.2.0)
Radio version 4.1.13.37_02.83.90
RIL Version 2.002

Hope that helps!

This is the problem. I've installed the SDK. It is a special version of OS for smartphones. Your phone has a very small screen (176x220 instead of 240x320) and no touchscreen. Also it looks like there're a lot of other differences. I'll add this to the global wishlist, but I don't think I'll do it in near future. Sorry.
