Confessions of a newbie

You know when you slam the door on a door-to-door salesman that just don't get, that you're not interested in his less than stellar wares?

I'm that salesman, and I'm here to make a "sale". Difference is that, I'm not really selling anything, and it's certainly not less than stellar (what salesman would also admit that  )

Hang on one sec ... have to check the salesman manual ...

... oh right, pitch the product

You should try out JPortal.

... aaaaand follow up by stuffing the product down the victi ... erh ... the customers throat

OK, so you didn't slam the door on me yet. Time to test your patience by rambling on about all the great features.
Actually, I won't do that, there's a great readme for that, instead I'll "entertain" you with a personal story.

Over the past 2 weeks, I've sampled all apps on this site with enforced rules and AI, and JPortal has impressed me the most, but more importantly provided me with the most fun.

Solid customizable AI is perhaps it's greates force, and actually feels like you're playing a real human ... *cough* said the newbie, but what does he knpow? *cough* ... Of course everything isn't all bacon and gravy in JPortal land. It's biggest drawback is perhaps the limited no. of implemented cards, and the fact they're from old sets. For a MtG newbie however, this is bliss. So many sets, so easy to get lost. This way I can get into things at my own pace, and should be at least decent at both deck building and the game itself by the time Malban (<- the dev) implements new sets (which is planned for sometime during 2011).

So why don't try something new, and come join me in the JPortal forum?
Besides it's getting a bit lonely down there. Not so lonely you have to hold me, but it would be nice to talk to someone besides myself ;)

*edit*
Oh sh... Just realized I posted a pic my own modded version of JPortal. The original has graphics made by Malban, which includes mana icons, card backs and playing field.

The customizability of the JPortal AI is amazing, there's nothing else like it around. I'm happy to have a salesman proselytizing, so keep it up justme.

Developers need enthusiastic users. It's the same in the music business, since great musicians and songwriters would rather write and play songs than sell the music!

You just opened up a can of worms ... a BIG one

I consider that a stamp of approval, and therefor will not be held responsible for the consequences

Actually, I'm just glad Malaban still support JPortal, and while I wait for the next release, I've started modding his creation to make it look more official.
For now it's only borrowed graphics, so untill they're done, no mods will be released ... and now that I tink about, tis particular post, should've been in the JPortal forum.

Well, we encourage user participation to put it mildly. When that gets out of hand you end up with Forge.
