Frames + Crops instead of fulls is possible?
by alexandreonly » 04 Nov 2011, 20:46
I see that the mana cost and power/thoughness of the cards are displayed on the pictures. Is possible to implement a way to show the card frame + card informations + crop, like they do in dotp 2012?

Possible but would require a lot of work as we'd have to implement our owncard renderer to piece together the components of a card.
Why would such a feature be desirable/useful?

Plus updated oracle text, the ability to toggle flavor text, and smaller downloads.

Good point, currently we overlay some icons on top of the card image. If we could modify the card itself, that would be nicer.Incantus wrote:Real-time updates of the status of the card based on in-game state
Thanks, the issue of outdated oracle text, especially functional changes, completely slipped my mind. The implementation uses the current text but if the card shows a different one that would be confusing to the player.Huggybaby wrote:Plus updated oracle text, the ability to toggle flavor text, and smaller downloads.
Side question: Is it possible to download crops on a per card basis?

Outdated text on pics isn't too big an issue, since magarena downloads its own cards and you can control quality that way.melvin wrote:Thanks, the issue of outdated oracle text, especially functional changes, completely slipped my mind. There's no way to get single crops. Make a list of every card that is in Magarena and someone will assemble them for you.

Much nicer, yeah but that would only work for the pop-up image though. I can't see how we'd put ability text on the cards in play because of the scaling we use.melvin wrote:Good point, currently we overlay some icons on top of the card image. If debugging is the process of removing bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in.
