Counters, abilities and graphics mode
As you probably have noticed, the graphics mode only shows some counters and only part of the abilities a card may have.
This has a few reasons;
- the cards scale, so too many icons won't fit
- there are a lot of different abilities
- it's hard to make decent icons that are very small (16x16)
Now I really like the icons as they show you at a glance what card does what, but there should also be a way to see every ability/counter on the card. Right now the only way to get that info is to switch to text mode, which is far from ideal. One way to deal with this problem could be to overlay text on the larger card image that pops up and use icons only for the most common abilities/counters. Anyway, that's for the future.
And that brings me to +1 and -1 counters. We don't show those although they're common enough. So I toyed around with Photoshop and came up with this:
What do you people think?
Edit: Bah. For some reason the image doesn't always show. I attached it now.

If debugging is the process of removing bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in.

How about using a generic counter like Forge for everything? That works quite well.

Thanks for the input so far.
I think I just go with the pictured icon. Maybe make it so that every counter above 9 will be shown as 9+. Otherwise it could get ugly when you have a ton of +1 counters on a card.

I haven't been keeping up with the developments there (I know a lot of progress has been made on the UI side though) so I'm not sure what that would look like. Just an icon that means that a card has 'some' counter? Where would you see what sort it is?jeffwadsworth wrote:How about using a generic counter like Forge for everything? That works quite well.

Good point. Forge uses an info panel, so perhaps a generic counter wouldn't work. Love that you guys are going with the scripting route.
