Do you mean an .app package for installing the game on Mac? That would be great! I'm always looking out for ways to simplify the installation.missalexis wrote:I have a .app package for Mac OS X that I made this evening. Could I submit it for inclusion?
Can you put it up somewhere and post an URL?
Is it possible to update the package with a new jar?

You can just replace the Magarena.jar included in mine with an updated one. Also that some directory is where all the additional resources go. I did not include, obviously, to save bandwidth.

Thanks again for a wonderful app; I spend more time playing Magarena than any other Magic app.

Thanks! Updating the jar seems simple enough, but which directory should the Magarena data directory go?missalexis wrote:You can just replace the Magarena.jar included in mine with an updated one. On behalf of the dev team, your support and contribution towards a better Mac install is greatly appreciatedmissalexis wrote:Thanks again for a wonderful app; I spend more time playing Magarena than any other Magic app.

Well then melvin, give missalexis a thumbs up
(And give yourself a cool avatar while you're at it.
)
BTW melvin, I played with the latest build last night, and I found that a bug I hadn't reported had already been fixed.
I'm really looking forward to the next release!

LOL, I so agree.Huggybaby wrote:(And give yourself a cool avatar while you're at it.)
That's great but why didn't you report the bug? Oh and out of curiosity, what was the bug?Huggybaby wrote:I found that a bug I hadn't reported had already been fixed
If debugging is the process of removing bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in.

Ha, well, I never report a bug until I've seen it twice, and had a chance to read up on the rules. Because usually what I think is a bug is just my misunderstanding the rules, so I have to be careful to save myself embarrassment.
And I can't remember what it was now, it's too early.

Commander mode would be really fun with all the official preconstructed commander decks.

i think magernena is ripe for a standard mode sort list of cards in deck editor is handy

I want to bring back the topic about muligans and hand max hand size.
i think u dont have to worry much about the AI choice of discarding even in officel computer card games like yugioh and magic the gathering pc game the AI discards at rondom when they got a max hand size, its just the fun part to let the AI discards at rondom and for the ai able to discard cards. I realy dont dont mind wat cards the AI discards i find it more important to let the game alow discards from hand.
and about muligans i think u can let the player have muligans and the AI not, if the AI has trouble deciding wat cards to keep and wat not wel just cheat the AI and give it always a minimum of 2 land cards to begin with and let the AI decide at rondom if it takes a mulgian or not with like max 2 muligans for the AI for example. So much ways and possiblites to make this work so think about my ideas
and keep the good work about this game coming

Certainly, but it looks really hard to implement with the different rules.jmartus wrote:Commander mode would be really fun with all the official preconstructed commander decks.
Discarding down to 7 cards is something we are testing right now. If the results are favorable it will be in the next release.Milod wrote:I want to bring back the topic about muligans and hand max hand size.
I haven't looked at the mulligan idea but Melvin has some ideas about an alternative way to do it.

In the New Duel screen, a limited number of decks is available, compared to the number of decks in the decks folder. How does a deck make the list?
Selecting the folder icon does what, choose a random deck? The folder should be labeled something like Random Precon.
For the precon decks that ARE on the list, like Fairy Horde, it would be helpful to know what colors are in those decks.

The folder icon does indeed select a deck at random from the Magarena/decks folder. The other named decks on the bottom of the list are not constructed but generated based on subtype or ability. Most of these decks use a predefined color (or colors) and I'll have a look at showing those next to the name (icons or just something like 'BU').

Those decks are generated eh? Nice!
You could use shrunken versions of the icons already on the list for graphical consistency.
I missed the Wiki, very nice, you guys have been working hard. And setting an example too I might add.
