Here is a fun deck to play...at least for me. Losely based on Jon Finkel's Forbidian. I made it 60 cards, but 40 would be fun too.
You will need the latest version of Magarena to use it.

Nice. I added it.
Works quite well even without a powerhouse like Force of Will.
Thank you.
btw, I was close to adding a storm implementation but found a crash condition I don't understand at the moment. With 1.19 to be released so soon now, I'll hold back on it. Shame, because the AI was handling it well.

Hehe, yeah card drawing is way too strong without discarding down to 7. I hope the next version can have an option for it.Aswan jaguar wrote:A deck that exploits Magarena unlimited hand,if it gets started goes quite well.

Very nice
Works so well with the low cost creatures. I'll include it in the next release.
Thanks!

Here's a few decks that I'm having fun with. Probably not very optimized, but certainly very different. Except for a couple of themed decks, these aren't really restricted to any cube, because that's not really my thing. Most are 40-card decks, with some 60-card variations thrown in. Zipped 'em up because the forum wouldn't allow more than 5 attachments.
WB Fallen Knights - One of my old favorites, a deck that is both themed and strong. Based around knights that are very difficult to get rid of, but can deal some serious damage. Whenever I come up with a new deck idea, I test it against this - and usually lose. Comes in both 40 and 60 card variations, with the 60 card variation offering a wider variety of knights. Can consistently beat Soul Sisters due to poison counters from Phyrexian Crusaders.
U Illusionist's Gambit - My new favorite. A fast blue attack deck, based on cheap unblockable illusions and some enchantments and equipment that capitalizes on them. Plus counterspells and boomerangs, cos they just go with the territory. (And can I make a pretty request for some more illusions in the next version, like Krovikan Mist, Phantasmal Bear and Phantasmal Image?
)
BU Dementia - Based on weird ways of putting cards from the opponent's library to graveyard. Strong if you know what you're doing, but not so good in the hands of an AI, since it requires playing cards in a specific order as well as withholding cards. An interesting way to win without creatures.
RB Pain - Classic red/black damage and discard deck. If you're looking for a challenge, the AI will destroy you with this.
Skullclamp & Deathrender - Silly deck with silly combos. Spawn tokens and destroy them with Skullclamp until you get Deathrender, then use it to throw out a crazy big monster.
Soul Sisters - Built this before seeing Zach's version. Same idea with minor differences, namely Kitchen Finks, Sun Titan and some removal.
RU Pinger - Gelectrodes with Basilisk Collars and twincast instants. Did this just to see if it could work. Yes, it kinda does, but it's way too fiddly even in computer form. I wouldn't even dream of playing this live.
WB Denial - A long-lasting 60-card deck whose purpose is to infuriate your opponent by destroying anything and everything they come up with, then repurposing those cards for your own use or throwing huge cards with unwieldy casting costs. Games tend to stretch a bit.
B Zombies - Simple but effective zombie-themed deck. Sort of a cherry-picked version of a random zombie deck. I actually prefer playing with a random deck, but sometimes I give this to the AI when I'm testing a theme deck of my own.
RW Soulfire - This one doesn't nearly always work, but when it does, it's spectacular. The idea is to throw out amplified and duplicated mass destruction spells, but resist their detrimental effects yourself. A bit of life gain so you end up a couple of points higher than dead. Your creatures have protection so they don't get burned.
RU Elementalist - A strange deck based on duplicating both creatures and burn spells. Not one of my strongest creations, but definitely different.
RW Samurai - Themed Kamigawa deck with singletons.
Glint - A deck exploiting affinity and the Glint Hawk / Ornithopter / Glaze Fiend combo. Mostly for showcasing a broken mechanic, but damn if it isn't nasty when you face an AI with this.

Thanks for sharing! The descriptions are really useful, makes me realize we should find a way to show the descriptions of custom decks in the game so that users know the rationale behind their design. Will include these decks in the next release of the game.

The "B Zombies" deck seems to be missing from the zip file. Could you attach that to a new post? Thanks!

Here's the missing Zombie deck, and a couple more as a bonus!
B Zombies - Simple but effective zombie-themed deck. Sort of a cherry-picked version of a random zombie deck. I actually prefer playing with a random deck, but sometimes I give this to the AI when I'm testing a theme deck of my own.
B Zombies Infect - This deck consists of creatures with Infect and cheap buffs for them. It will smash you in 3-6 turns unless you have a proper defense. Think you have a fast deck? Try a game against this.
Esper - A 3-color deck with mostly multicolored artifact creatures. It lacks something to make it really useful, but it's a nice way to learn about cards you may have overlooked previously. Balanced for playing against an AI with a randomly built deck.

Version 1.23 will have the option to add comments/descriptions to decks. I just added sponeta's descriptions to the decks posted.melvin wrote: The descriptions are really useful, makes me realize we should find a way to show the descriptions of custom decks in the game so that users know the rationale behind their design.

Re: Premade decks please

Hey, that's great! By pure coincidence, I was in the middle of posting a second batch of decks I've been working on.
B Living Weapons - An artifact offense deck peppered with black control. Keep destroying all creatures, and then just throw in an Ornithopter with a Ronin Warclub and Strider Harness. Surprisingly resilient, and seems to win most fights even without Batterskull. The AI doesn't like to use this deck though, since it keeps re-equipping all the time, and lacks the ability to plan a withhold-destroy-mobilize tactic.
GW Aura Fun - A green-white deck built around a lot of cheap auras and creatures that love them: Kor Spiritdancer, Yavimaya Enchantress and even Thran Golem. Beastmaster's Magemark has never been so useful! The AI will likely enchant the wrong creatures that don't benefit from auras, or spread the auras around instead of stacking them all on one creature.
UG Blue Elf Ramp - Magarena has very little of both mana acceleration and tutoring. This deck has most of what's available: Play several lands a turn, keep drawing cards, and let the elves multiply.
UGW Sublime Exaltation - I wanted to try something totally random and decided to build a deck around the Exalted ability. The result is surprisingly effective, at least against creature-heavy decks (which Magarena is based around). Defensively not so hot, though, and burn decks will eat you. This deck also makes use of those three-colored rares you've probably thought cool but could never fit in a deck, like Rafiq of the Many and Nulltread Gargantuan. Oh, and Serra Angel, just 'cause.
GW Rumblebush - A weird deck that has some tokens, some weenies, some global buffs, and Force of Savagery. You can buff the tokens and weenies, use them for mana, or feed them to Skullmulcher or Eldrazi Monument.
RB Can't Stop the Goblins - A goblin deck spiced with black reanimation. Fun for the theme, not very effective in the big picture.
GW Villagers Attack - Humans, allies and +1/+1 counters flying every which way. This theme resulted in a rather uneven deck: difficult to get started, but eventually turns into overkill (unless you're dead already).
GW Arcbound Tinker - Another novelty +1/+1 counter deck, this time with Arcbound golems. Again, suffers from a weak start, but gets silly if you survive.

Thought I would add a pair of strong decks I made for the AI, in thanks for the excellent game. They're both strong enough to beat most of the other premade decks.
This is a removal deck strong based around Deathbringer Liege, almost all cards in it are B/W multicolour. If Edge of the Divinity was in Magarena it'd be a bit stronger.
This is a deck cribbed togther while looking at some of the decks in the current meta-game. A WU deck meant to win hard and fast, with some removal mixed in. Probably the stronger of the two.
Love the program and I hope someone or another gets a kick out of these.
