No sound in Magarena

Hi,

I have no sound in Magarena. Is this implemented? Am I missing files or is this normal?
Under preferences I have an audio tab.
Both UI volume and game volume start as Off. I can set them to 100% but still no audio.
I start a game (without audio) and after a while any volume setting I made under preferences reverts back to Off.

I tried manually editing the general.cfg file and set volumes there but with same results. It always defaults back to Off.
I am a new user who started playing Magarena with 1.87 and I have this issue in both 1.87 and 1.88

Whats the deal with audio?
