This is a bug fix release to solve a critical bug in the sound system. There is a bug in 1.17 that caused the game to crash whenever a sound effect is played, this has been fixed. Thanks to Huggybaby's bug report.

We have also added a crash log to the game. Whenever the game crashes, it will write some logging data to Magarena/crash.log. Please send us this file when reporting game crashes.

As a small bonus, there are about 30+ new cards in this bug fix release.

Let me be the first one to spot a bug and of course it's one I am to blame for
Bug: The about dialog still shows the version as 1.16b.

Good news; it's already fixed but we have to live with it till next month.

...gawd what a stupid bug it was #-o

Nice selection of cards and cool to see that you extended the engine like draw triggers. :D
Just a hint, I think MTG Commander also has some nice cards to add.
I usually changed the version number first, because that is easy to forget.

Yeah, Commander has some nice ones indeed. I'll get to those.
I'm wary of adding cards at random as it'll quickly become a selection of cards I like, or all powerful cards. So I stick to adding blocks and right now its M12. I also focus on cards that the Ai can reasonably play well. Adding cards is often not that much work, it's the testing.

I agree, setting up test games takes time.

Is it possible that it doesn't work correctly as I don't see any overlay and
I have the same UI problem as with 1.16 update with highlighted cards.I am not able to understand which cards are highlighted with some themes if you could make an option to choose between border color-grey overlay I would be grateful as I like to change regularly between the great Magarena themes, because as it is now it's like we make some themes inconvenient to use, thanks.

The new option is part of the theme.properties file IN the xxx_theme.zip. Because the themes were made when using an overlay was the only option, I chose to make using overlays the default.

You just need to download the changed themes.

Played for over three hours, not one graphics glitch or any other problem I could find. This is an extremely stable release so far, the best in a long time. :) Thanks for bringing back overlays too. =D>

That's good to hear, Huggybaby.

My favorite new change (smartly done by melvin) of 1.17 is this one:
- enabled AI to make use of abilities that can be activated multiple times
more effectively.

It's a blast to see the Ai kill me with a pumped up Nantuko Shade. Makes me smile everytime :)

This game is the best MTG in the Market:)

But it needs new game modes like "tournament mode"...

Are any new game modes in the todo list?

THX:)

Yeah, I see that adding a tournament mode is on the issue list since the beginning of june.

I would like to see something like it myself, but at the moment I'm still trying to wrap my head around the source code.. adding cards, spotting bugs and learning.
Adding something like a tournament mode seems like quite some work and if it gets added anytime soon depends on melvin I guess.

*goes back to adding cards* :)
