A friend of mine just beat the AI. AI score?
-36,000
That's minus thirty six thousand.

I don't recall the program showing any scores besides the number of games won in the current duel. Do you mean the AI's life points?

Yes. I have a screenshot too, the three zero's look like periods.
(I should have said AI life points, not score.)

Post that screenshot or it never happened!

If debugging is the process of removing bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in.

Do post the screenshot. The space on the UI is probably too small for the length of the number.
Really curious how that is done. My guess is that the AI has something like Platinum Angel that allows it to have negative life points and still continue but to accumulate 36,000 damage is incredible.

He was kind enough to provide a recap for us. I don't know how he remembered everything so well because I sure can't remember like that.
He was playing version 1.20b.
He was playing version 1.20b.
I quickly taught him to play MTG a year or so ago and he has learned everything else from Magarena.I was playing the "Blue Power" deck, and the computer played a Kazuul Warlord, which says: "Whenever Kazuul Warlord or another Ally enters the battlefield under your control, you may put a +1/+1 counter on each Ally creature you control." I had a Guard Gomazoa out so it wouldn't hurt me, so I used a Followed Footsteps to replicate it at the beginning of each turn, then I got two of them on there, then I put a Narcolepsy on it so it wouldn't do anything but sit there and reproduce. Eventually I used Rite of Replication with a kicker to make 5 copies, and I also used Twincast on that to double it... I could have done that twice, but I didn't. It took quite a while for it to add up all the extra counters on each Kazuul Warlord that I had, but all I had to do was wait for it then click through to the next turn and it would give me two more of them and all the counters for all of them combined. I bet it could be way higher if you implemented this strategy earlier, and if you added a couple of Wall of Reverence out there instead of Guard Gomazoa you could gain a ton of life while you were doing that.

What's really cool is that Magarena didn't bog down completely while calculating all the buffs.
