kingpin,
1) keep it civil please.
2) I don't know what antivirus you are using, but I use Norton and if you ask for more information when it tells you there is a virus it will tell you that it isn't an actual virus, it is just that something in certain exe and dll files are suspicious based on their algorithms. I have installed it on my computer (by temporarily disabling antivirus) and have had no problems. But it is your choice.

No, don't panic. Honestly, HarlequinCasts is right.kingpin wrote:HarlequinCasts,HarlequinCasts wrote:That's just a false positive.
You're not too concern because it's not your computer. If you think a Trojan is false positive then open it yourself, genius.
Most of us regulars who have been running the game for years have come across the problem after installing a new patch at one time or another.
I just have the whole 'program' folder subdirectory listed in my virus software exclusion list. No worries.

Gargaroz wrote:Important Card Art File Changes - YOU MUST READ THIS
As of the January 2014 patch the card art file naming convention has been changed. Due to this change your currently installed ‘CardArtManalink’ folder and card artwork will need to be replaced with those in the two archives posted in the links below - BEFORE installing this months card art update files.
All card art update links posted before the date of this thread are now redundant.

I've just installed the new patch and I'm having a problem with some of the cards coming up blank...

Maybe if the blink tag worked.
Or, if you still don't feel up to reading that, or just don't want to install all the art, rename the files so that anything that isn't an unaccented letter, number, comma, space, apostrophe, or hyphen gets replaced by underscores.

I am amazed by this comment. Of course I opened the file and obviously I am running it on my own computer. DLL files are common sources of false positives by virus scanners because they potentially interface with your OS in ways the scanner can't necessarily deem safe. This is a small tight community of developers and we all play this game constantly, nobody is going to sneak a virus into a random patch for this niche game. No need to be uncivil here.kingpin wrote: HarlequinCasts,

In fairness, it's very possible that Gargaroz could propagate a virus (not a trojan) when he built manalinkeh.dll, or I could when I built drawcardlib.dll or cardartlib.dll, and not be aware of it.
But I would expect any reputable virus checker to identify which virus it's detecting in a given file. This would let us confirm or disprove its presence. As reported, your checker is indistinguishable from ransomware. No doubt it would claim to find viruses in its competitors' virus scanners as well.

Both filename with special char and underscore work in french and japanese OS, so I thank you very much for that
Anyway it's a bit weird an antivirus react to a dll for ML, usually it's magic.exe due to Draft mode giving options to delete draft deck file.
Either way, beside multiplayer mode, the game should not send or receive any data, any basic firewall should have detected it by now so at least it's not a trojan (or maybe an old school virus that would wipe hdd at the 31th february
)

Happy new year to all guys (i know i'm saying it late but you know the situation here in aleppo-syria especially the damn electricity and as they say better late than nothing, right) this is really a great gift to begin the new year
and i can't wait to see the new cards so thank you so much for this another great update you really do amazing job

As to the missing artwork. If your game install is up to date you should have 11505 jpg files in the CardArtManalink folder - any less and you have some missing.
Although, I suspect it maybe that you need to alter your OS Regional Language settings to 'English', to account for some of the non-english characters in some of the card file names. The game won't load these pictures without an English character code page installed.
my CardArtManalink folder is up to date and it's contain 11505 jpg and my OS language is english
so i think the problem in weird letters in some of the card file names like Æ,û,é,à because the OS can't recognize this weird letters because i found juzam djinn photo in CardArtManalink folder but the game can't show it in the game but i think (did't try it yet) this problem is solved after the adjusment you made for cardartmanalink folder for the cards photos names
anyway i want to say thank you so much Sonic for answer my question,i really appreciate that so much
may the God return the losted hope and peace to my country aleppo-syria
may the God have mercy on us and our Martyers
Amen
God bless you and thank you so much guys again

It means that the link of the archive provided by Korath doesn't have any big graphic overhaul from Sarlack and maybe only has the default old school version or the Sonic one, check it out here

Hello,
I've dl'ed the files.
Then I had the problem with the AV reporting the file as a Trojan.
Then I had to do all over again.
Then I started Magic.exe and only gave me a black screen, nothing more.
Then I had to go through the first Manalink 3.0 zip and tried a clean install.
Then I installed the new CardArtManalink and this update.
Now I'm having a lot of errors starting Magic.exe and I don't have any patience to go through clean installations and previous upgrades untill this one and all and all...
Can someone please post an up-to-date install pack, just like CirithUngol made and name it Manalink 3.0 2014 and use this pack as a starting point for all things to come for this next year?
I guess it's not that difficult and it would be nice to have a single file/pack to work with for the next updates, with the CardArtManalink already updated and all and all...
Thanks.

I think you just need to grab any 2013 version, then install the latest update to it: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=6401
Since the card art has been redone, you don't have to go through a year of updates to get them all, just grab the 3 ones from latest patch
.
Remember when the install directions say to delete your old card art folder, really delete it.

Did what you said.
Installed the "Korath archive updated up to Theros November 2013", deleted the CardArtManalink folder, extracted everything new along with the updates, AV is turned OFF to not detect the bad file.
The result is a black screen when I start the program.
