Manalink update : April 01 2011 aka No April Fool For Ya

This is a special release, did mainly after hearing the complaints about the slowdowns caused by the Rules Engine.
After some brainstorming with Jatill and some changes, we think we've found a better way to handle things.
So, from now :
1) The Rules Engine card will be putted in play only if the cards in your or in AI's deck requires it to fully function. Please note that Challenge mode requires the Rules Engine to function.
2) Only the mandatory checks will be performed by the Rules Engine, so if you are playing decks with no cards that interacts with Storm, no storm counter will be added, for example.
This probably will ease a lot the slowdowns, since they're caused mainly from cards with static / triggered abilities in the graveyard (such as Vengevine and Genesis) and cards that can be Cycled, Flashbacked, Unearthed and such.
However, there are few new entries and this time say goodbye to old Astral cards (they're still in Limited Edition, of course)
0860 Call from the Grave --> Glimmerpost
0861 Prismatic Dragon --> Moment's Peace
0862 Rainbow Knights --> Repeal
0863 Pandora's Box --> Makeshift Mannequin
0864 Whimsy --> Basilisk Collar
0867 Power Struggle --> Inkmoth Nexus
0868 Aswan Jaguar --> Infective Blinkmoth (Inkmoth Nexus animated)
Plus, there are some important bugfixes (Lifelink ! check below) :
---- BUGS FIXED ----
* Fixed code for Goblin Ringleader, so it won't mess your hand size anymore
* Fixed legend status and "messing hand size" bug for Vendilion Clique
* Fixed "animation" ability, ultimate ability and display text for Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas
* Fixed Morph code (by Jatill)
* Fixed "forced attack" for Berserkers of Blood Ridge and probably other cards
* Fixed interaction between Nissa Revane ultimate ability and elf creatures with CIP ability
* Fixed "free gain life" for Thelonite Monk
* Fixed "free land" ability for Oracle of Mul Daya and probably other cards
* Fixed Utopia Sprawl's "count mana" bug (by Jatill)
* Fixed interactions between Genesis Wave and creatures with CIP ability
* Fixed Timber Protector : now Forest are Indestructible too
* Fixed wrong CC for Viridian Corrupter
* Fixed code for Consume the Meek : regeneration is no more allowed.
* Fixed interaction between Astral Slide ability, face-down creatures and animated lands.
* Fixed Bribery code, so finally the "stolen" creature will go in the appropriate graveyard when dying.
* Fixed data entry error for Tolaria West : no more Shroud for it.
* Fixed finally some issues with Lifelink : you WILL gain life when attack a Planeswalker and you will gain the correct amount of life when attacking with a creature with Trample and Lifelink (thanx Serra for the latter). Plus, now creatures with Infect and Lifelink will make you gain life and give counters.
* Fixed wrong name for Hero of Bladehold
* Fixed interaction between Noble Purpose and creatures with Infect / Wither

Just out of curiosity, could I use this update with Manalink 2.0 SCV? I am using that right now since the original Mok Manalink 2.0 didn't show text for me. Thanks!

I think you can, ML2SCV is just a cleaner update with some small UI mod.

Yep, it works fine with Manalink SCV.
About the Rules Engine - it's still turning on automatically during gauntlets when I believe neither deck needs them. Is there some option I have to click to make it go away automatically? If not, I'm happy w/ burying them every time, just curious.

If you're playing Challenges, you will need Rules Engine, otherwise the Challenge mode doesn't work.

Right, but the engine is still on whenever I play normal gauntlet or solo matches also, even though neither deck has cards that need the engine.Gargaroz wrote:If you're playing Challenges, you will need Rules Engine, otherwise the Challenge mode doesn't work.

Ah, I see. However, there shouldn't be any slowdowns, since the code that Rules Engine execute is, in your case, only the one related to Challenge mode, which is not too heavy.
I'll see if I can fix this, but I doubt.

Thanks guys!
PS: I bet that now, without rules engine, Sylvan Library will work fine again. I can't belive that RE was preventing the option screen to pop up while drawing cards with the Library! Mathusalem will be happy as much as I am )

3 Annoying bugs:
Doubling Cube: The controller mana doesn't empty at end of phases.
Moat: Stops ALL attack - flying or non-flying.
Grafted Exoesqueleton: Crashes the game when or after enter the game.

Please fill the bug report in the bug section if you want to submit a bug, though I just tested all of them and they all worked correctly in constructed gauntlet mode (though Doubling Cube is a bit tedious to use, the effect seems to appear juste before the last mana tap)

Haze of Rage seems to be broken now (the storm aspect).
Retired a long time ago. I will not reply.
