I have them (also they are no longer tagged as * since last update), so that mean you are still missing something, prolly the dat file or the csv since they all depend on it.

Maybe try to apply the patch again (maybe patch has been overriden with sonic card art files)

All good now. Reinstalled the patch, then replaced stuff with Snacko's files. Thanks :)

Updated the install order and most fixes on the OP, still miss the sword icon to hide attackers.

Well had a lot of problems trying to patch my old game when the previous patches meaning pre breaking 2000 limit gave me no problem.

So I took the full MTG file from one of the members here and now everything seems to work fine but I get absolutely no card text or in-game text on the middle bar that you have to click okay on.

Things known to restore the missing text in Vista/Win7 are running the game without Visual Themes or adjusting the DEP settings.

Try this first:

Visual Themes
Right click on the Magic.exe and select 'Properties'.
Go to the 'Compatibility' tab and under 'Display Settings' make sure the 'Disable visual themes' is ticked then click 'Apply'.

This was known to work with the old version of Shandalar - it might work with the magic.exe:

DEP
Right click on 'My computer' and click 'Properties'
At the left part of your window click 'Remote setttings'
Click the 'Advanced Tab'
Under 'Performance' click 'Settings' (the uppermost most button)
Now click the 'Data Execution Prevention' (DEP) tab
Select: Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select
Click add, and browse your Game installation folder and select Magic.exe/Shandalar.exe
Working On: Life, the Universe, and Everything.

Yeah I use XP so I am not sure the Vista/Win 7 fixes will help.

Never mind the DEP fix helped a lot thanks.

I had no idea that was also a XP feature lol.

I knew XP had DEP. I had no idea the fix worked in XP though.

You learn something new everyday with this game.

IMHO, marking aproximations with "*" is not a good ideea anymore, due to the conflict with cart arts. It is much better to do it within the card's text, that is much easier to update once the card is reviewed. Better one file than two :)

Great news, Gargaroz =D> Been eagerly waiting for this update  I'll download and start testing ^^ Thanks a lot for the effort in fixing all the little bits.

I agree. If the card doesn't work exactly as the original, the card's text should contain what the card actually does in the game (rather than the Oracle text) and/or explain that's an approximation of the original card. This way, even if they're not exact implementations of the card, the players can still figure out how to play with them (instead of having to guess).

EDIT: also, it's impressive how fast development was  27 days since last release... 8-[ scary

Gargaroz, a weird thing. I thought that all of the cards included in 3.0, even the uncoded ones, had their text automatically downloaded from the Gatherer or similar so I have opened the file with an Open Office derivate program to see if I could activate some cards that do not require true coding.
With my big surprise, I've seen that there are a lot of cards that are missing their text ability, starting from never-coded cards from Legend.
I don't know if it is intentional or an already known issue bur, for sure, this makes harder for me to recognize any vanilla creature that is worthy of being activated.

ya know you could just open up manalink.ini and put a 1 where it says view all. then go into the deck builder and select a expansion from moks new filter list and see which cards dont have pics are ones that are not coded.

Zombie, it is about the rules part. All other fields, as flavor text, looks fine in most of the cases. You can just open the file with Open Office, check the "text" field and use filters to see only cards with no text (which are supposed to be only the vanilla cards).
