0rion79 wrote:Zombie, it is about the rules part. All other fields, as flavor text, looks fine in most of the cases. You can just open the file with Open Office, check the "text" field and use filters to see only cards with no text (which are supposed to be only the vanilla cards).
You might want to check your filter formula then - because many of those cards you listed do have their Rules Text.

Impossibile. I would rather think that I was looking at the wrong column or that I have a different file. Really. Is still Manalink.csv in the main Magic directory the reference file? And "Rules Text" still the column? If so, I did no mistake and such fields are empty in the file that I have.

i think your on the wrong file. did you use the one from magic updater as the csv cause both the csv and the xls files have the info in them. im even looking at those cards in db and they have what is supposed to be there.

The Manalink.csv in the magic_updater file is the one you need to check the other is not needed and may not be updated by Gargaroz.

Oh, then maybe I was making a confusion among files. You know, with all the latest patches, maybe it would be the case to create a file deleter, which checks the main MtG dir and gets rid of any unnecessary file and folder. What do you think?

i agree with Orion79. Maybe someone can make a new iso with the latest, needed files/folders only. All we diehards have to do thereafter is to copy the folder Faces from the old magic-folder to copy our progress in the challenges.

The xls/csv files you are looking for are in the manalink_30.zip 'magic_updater' folder.

The manalink.csv file is not required to run the game anymore - as all the game data is now stored in the dat files.
The csv file is now only needed as a resource file for the csv2dat.exe to produce the Cards.dat, DBInfo.dat and Rarity.dat files.
So there doesn't need to be a manalink.csv in the 'magic/program' directory anymore.
I'd suggest you're looking at a very old file.

Thanks Sonic, I've got it after Jaguar's message. Sorry for the fake alarm! But it may still be the chance to think about a file cleaner, to remove obsolete stuff without having to re-install the game.

I don't want any program on my machine, which deletes files. That behaviour is like a virus.
I still would like a clean iso. All other files, like decks, etc, i can copy from my old Magic-directory

Maybe we can get a new iso much like we had for 2010. maybe that is in order since we have 3.0

For those who want to make an ISO and don't have all archives since the beginning, we have a nice compilations of recent data from CirothUngol in his mediaserve folder :

Do you have DelDrafts.exe in your Magic folder? Because that is exactly what it does

so amazing
I made a backup copy of my existing folder and pasted all the new files in, and then it just took a little work sorting the card art into the right folder (I didn't want to straight-up overwrite since I have a few custom art jpgs, in particular I changed The Fallen's soul-destroying art to a picture of a bunch of kittens).
Then I fired up the deck editor and held down page down.
it took fully 24 seconds to reach the end.

Then, in that case, don't use it. When I was modding SimCity4, the guys from the core team did create a very useful program called CleanItTool that, after receiving instructions by a mere list of files in Notepad format, searched for those files into a specific and limited folder (or folders). That was very useful to remove old files that were interferring with the latest patches or were simply wasting space on PC.

Of course a new ISO would be appreciated, but why force players to delete and re-install, loosing scores, settings, challenges unlocked cards and so on?

hello and thanks for the great job you guys have done on this very antique game. >_<

this might sound a little off topic or noobish but can i ask one thing? does the new cards in here be used in shandalar or is it for duels only?

i recently formatted my pc so an ISO would be very much appreciated and i know CirothUngol went out of his/her(?) way to share his/her collection to all of us (the mediafire folder) so i would like to thank him/her again.

again, thanks guys. keep up the good work. more power to you guys. ^_^
