[confirmed]High Ground not working with granted abilities
by Nexhro » 01 Oct 2014, 23:14
Describe the Bug:
High Ground doesn't enable a Killer Whale controlled by its controller to block an additional creature with flying, if Killer Whale's activated ability has been activated that turn.
If the ability is activated precombat, a legacy effect card is created after Killer Whale has been declared as a blocker. If the playe rattempts to declare that legacy card as a blocker, a help text reading "Illegal Block" is prompted. That legacy card can block a creature without flying, though.
It looks as though the legacy card only checks for teh creature's base characteristics, not for the characteristics it got via abilities spells prior to being declaed as a blocker.
If the ability is activated after attackers have been declared, no legacy effect card is created after Killer Whale has been declared as a blocker, so the defending player doesn't even get to attempt blocking two creatures with Whale.fixed or never a bug.
Which card did behave improperly ?
High Ground
Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
CoRM15 mini3, duel
What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
High Ground enables creatures controlled by its controller to block an additional creature each.
Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?
Probably other cards similiar to Killer Whale that gain flying/shadow/horsemanship via abilities (or spells?).
Tested granting flying via Levitation -> no bug

Re: [confirmed]High Ground + Killer Whale

Tested with Merrow Levitator granting flying and it didn't work either (phantom blocker didn't have flying).
Also strange, but High Ground only seemed to work on 1 creature per turn in my tests. But that might need more testing.

Working on: housekeeping and archived reports
