[confirmed]Semblance Anvil doesn't work for tribal

Postby Korath » 06 Jul 2016, 12:43

Describe the Bug:
Elvish Promenade still costs {3} {G} if you control a Semblance Anvil imprinting a Bitterblossom.

Which card did behave improperly ?
Semblance Anvil; any pair of tribal cards that don't share a second card type will exhibit the same bug.

Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
Post-BFZ, which shouldn't matter except for the irritating savegame incompatibility.

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
Tribal is a card type, not a supertype or subtype, so the Elvish Promenade should cost {2} less to cast, so {1} {G}.

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?
Yup. Looking at the source but not actually testing cards with "card type" in their rules text (I think that's sufficient?), I see:At least two thirds of the broken ones are only broken because of their calls to get_type(), so should be fixable just by adding a hackish get_type_or_tribal() that includes some bit in its return value if the card has SUBTYPE_TRIBAL. Some of them will need targeting to honor that bit, too, like it does for TARGET_TYPE_PLANESWALKER. Adding that bit directly to get_type() is sure to cause more problems than it's worth, though.

Aside: I'm not generally concerned with trying to maintain bug-for-bug compatibility with the comprehensive rules in cases where the comprehensive rules are only trying to maintain bug-for-bug compatibility with MODO, but I've never been able to decide if needing a Tribal card type in order to print creature subtypes on a non-creature card is one of those cases.

Blood Oath doesn't deal any damage if you select Tribal.(not even the bugged 3 damage that the card is doing even if there are no cards of the chosen type).I don't know if Gargaroz fixed the tribal bug while fixing the above one here. and so is fixed in dev.
Ok: Tarmogoyf.
Tested broken: Cliffside Market, Confusion in the Ranks,Holistic Wisdom.

Creeping Dread is also not in Manalink -public version at least.
Counterlash is enabled in release and yes can't be cast.(I will report this separately).

Blood Oath is testing fine in dev; I think you'll find that in release, it does nothing if you select planeswalker, and counts planeswalkers if you pick tribal.

Now it doesn't imprint any card, or it doesn't have any effect so this can't be tested as mentioned here:
