[con]Banshee's Blade puts the counter before damage resolves

Banshee's Blade puts the counter a bit earlier if I am not wrong.I attacked with Auriok Replica 2/2 equipped with Banshee's Blade with 0 counters on it.AI blocked with Observant Alseid 2/2.Only Observant Alseid died my Auriok Replica became 3/3 as Banshee's Blade got a counter.Is this correct?
Which card did behave improperly ?
