[confirmed]Dulcet Sirens target can attack planeswalker
by Korath » 04 Feb 2017, 00:52
Describe the Bug:
You can activate Dulcet Sirens even if your opponent has shroud or hexproof (e.g. from Ivory Mask).
Which card behaved improperly?
Dulcet Sirens.
Which update are you using? (date, name)Which type? (duel, gauntlet, sealed deck)
Dev 2bba4ec.
What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction?
You can't activate an ability unless you can choose a legal target for each target it specifies. (Related, but not quite the same, a ruling for Dulcet Sirens: 11/7/2014: If either the target creature or the target player is an illegal target when the activated ability tries to resolve, the ability will have no effect. The creature won't be forced to attack that opponent, but it still can if able.)
Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug?
No, it's confined to Dulcet Sirens' function.
Some other bugs with this card I didn't bother to test, but which seem likely from looking at its implementation:

Some other bugs with this card I didn't bother to test, but which seem likely from looking at its implementation:
- The only reason to activate the card in 2-player for its actual effect (that is, not to just kill off a Skulking Ghost, or to tap the Sirens so it's unaffected by a Lure, or similar) is to negate Gideon Jura's or Kytheon, Hero of Akros // Gideon, Battle-Forged's first abilities. That doesn't look like it'll work, or at least like you won't get a choice of whether to attack the opponent or his planeswalker. Not that it's worth worrying about.
- The creature will just be forced to attack, not to attack that opponent - that is, it'll still be able to attack his planeswalkers.
I don't see anything keeping you from activating it to force your opponent's creatures to attackyou.

Fixed the can't target opponent and 3nd point above - opponent creatures attack you in commit 7769bfc.
