Atalya, Samite Master no shield

Atalya, Samite Master can't be activated beforehand as a shield to prevent damage and it really needs it as the prevention effect is to creature so it should be able to prevent damage from multiple sources.

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction?
Atalya, Samite Master needs prevention shield and to count X damage prevented.
Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug?
