How to use the Bug Report section

1) Use the Search Function
Please check if the bug has already been reported. Just "search" for the card name.
2014-10-20_165212.jpg

Note: the search function doesn't work for words < 4 letters long, so if the card has such a name (ex. Pox or Man-o'-War) search for card name + "Unsearchable" instead. Follow the same way for a card name that is an actual word so it could give you hundreds of results like "Regenaration" for instance.

If it has already been reported (multiple threads may exist for a given card, so check to make sure it is your specific bug) you don't need to do anything. If you have new information just update the existing topic instead of creating a new one. If the bug hasn't been reported, start a new thread.

Note: if a previous bug is marked 'waitlisted' or 'confirmed' the developers are aware of it and you don't need to bump the thread to draw attention to it. Only post to such a thread if there is new information not contained in the thread (and the fact that it still doesn't work in a more recent patch is NOT new information).

2) Topic names
Please name the topic after the Card the bug is related to, followed by a BRIEF description of the bug (keep in mind titles have length limits and some space needs to be reserved for status tags).
Missing / wrong Artwork or installation problems DO NOT BELONG INTO THIS FORUM. Post those at the "Installation and Troubleshooting" Forum. http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=55
Examples | Open
Llanowar Elves produce GG instead of G.
Your topic name would be "Llanowar Elves produces wrong mana".

Yawgmoths Will creates duplicate copies of Ancestral Recall.
Your topic name would be "Yawgmoths Will creates duplicates".

The interaction between Goblin King and Goblin Lackey are wrong.
The Lackey doesn´t get Mountainwalk.
Your topic name would be "Goblin King doesn't give landwalk".

3) Format
Please Copy/Paste this into your report :
Code: Select all
Describe the Bug:

Which update are you using? (date, name)Which type? (duel, gauntlet, sealed deck)

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction?

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug?

When describing the bug be as specific as you can, and make sure that any self-diagnosis or assumptions come at the end. Ex. If a black card can target an Order of Lietbur, say that, rather than say it can target creatures with protection from black. If further testing suggests that all cards with protection from black can be targeted, say that, but do so after the specific information.

If the card name is composed of words < 4 letters long (ex. Pox or Man-o'-War) add a line with [name of card] + "Unsearchable" at the end.
Follow the same way for a card name that is an actual word so it could give you hundreds of results like "Regenaration" for instance.

4) Attach a Savegame

Please attach a savegame to the topic. This is needed to re-create the bug (so the save should be the same turn the bug happened).
If the game has crashed or froze the game (basically game state is saved at the beginning of every turn) automatically saves (incredible feature that I love too much 8) ) at every beginning of a turn. In your Savegame file you will see AUTOSAVE.E1M (for duels), AUTOSAVE.E1G (for gauntlet), and AUTOSAVE.E1S (for sealed game). Please rename it, zip/rar it and attach that file (before you begin a new game that is and lose that game status in AUTOSAVE).

Besides this you can always save a game at any time but we need it to be in the same turn a bug has happened and attach it, if it is not in the same turn the bug has happened the savegame will not be always helpful.

2014-10-20_165712.jpg

Sometimes savegames get corrupted, so test your savegame before submitting it. If it is not possible to re-create the bug via a savegame please add a screenshot instead.

5) Attach the dump.txt file.
If you got an error don't click on it as it may produce another one ( the first is always the most relevant that we can track ). Go find the dump.txt (It will be in your main file (magic or program or...)) so it doesn't get overwritten by a possible second, third.... one rename it and then attach the renamed "renamed".txt file to your post (no need to zip it).

For Moderators & experienced users ONLY a form with the update version preselected & with Duel preselected (as we mostly use this) so if you were playing another update or mode change it to that!:

Code: Select all
Describe the Bug:

Which update are you using? (date, name)Which type? (duel, gauntlet, sealed deck)
October 2022 - From Rebels & Rhystics to Pathways & Pests - Hotfix/ duel

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction?

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug?
-
Some commonly used abbreviations:
gy = graveyard
bf = battlefield
crit = creature
lib = library

Also note: The Bug hunters topic thread is where the mods talk to each other. If you have a question about procedure that this thread can't answer or would like to help but don't know how, post there and a mod will respond (eventually  ).

Known Issues

PostPosted: 09 Feb 2012, 08:21
by Aswan jaguar
Known bug issues-Notes about cards from the DEVELOPERS:
Misc
- triggered effects can't be responded to
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/view ... 95#p121068
- In config.txt in the 'program' directory there is a tag called 'Duh mode' If this is set at 1 then all optional triggers will always trigger and certain simple choices will be made for you (ex. which creature to target with Wall of Reverence). If this is set to 0 then all optional triggers will be left up to you.

Cards that do not function 100% as intended, but can not be changed for various reasons

- Phyrexian Hydra (and all poison counter style cards)
The AI does not see "Infect" Creatures as a lethal threat.
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=110&t=4134&p=54109&hilit=phyrexian+hydra#p54109

-Double Strike
AI doesn't consider double strike properly; it treats them as first strikers for determining what it should do in combat

- * Snow mana is broken, but the developers are working on it. http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=13198&p=148361&hilit=snow+mana#p148361

- * Painter's Servant : you won't see the effect on graveyards, exile, the show-deck dialog (for searching libraries, choosing cards from opponent's hand, etc.), and usually the select-an-option dialog don't show the cards as colored, but it is there. http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=112&t=12001&p=146865

- * Master of the Hunt: Wolves created have banding, not Bands with other Wolves of the Hunt. http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14092

- * North Star : You must cast the spell at time of activating North Star. http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14094

- * Prismatic Omen is an approximation. You can click on the Omen to tap a land for any kind of mana. However, a Drain Power or similar spell that allows an opponent to steal your mana can't take advantage of Prismatic Omen.

-* Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is an approximation
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14115

- * Some cards requires a special "legacy card" to fully function, so don't be worried if you see that when playing, for example, Abyssal Gatekeeper or Ertai's Familiar.

- * Arrogant Wurm & Basking Rootwalla --> They use the old ruling of Madness, so with two forest and an island in play, you can play Careful Study, discard an Arrogant Wurm, play a land and the pay the Madness cost of the Wurm. Also, the "Madness Effect card" will not be destroyed if you or the AI activate a non-mana ability, which is incorrect. If you've multiple Madness Cards to be activated, respond to the activation of the first activating the second or you'll lose it. http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14099

- * Do not try to cheat in play creatures with Morph via cheating mode or the game will crash.

- * Snapcaster Mage : For counterspell, Snapcaster Mage needs to be cast and the counterspell card in the graveyard selected before being able to counter a spell (i.e. you can't cast Snapcaster Mage in response to a spell, choose a counterspell and then cast the counterspell) http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=110&t=14100&p=149816&hilit=counterspell#p149816

- * Grand Architect: Mana from Grand Architect
can only be used to cast artifacts, not activate them. http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14102

- * Mana generator cannot be assigned to be cast for specific cards (Myr Reservoir)

- * The ability of Cavern of Souls to cast a specific creature as an uncounterable spell cannot be coded for now http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=13245&p=142034

- * Spell that order the library cannot be cast in response to Counterbalance http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14106

- * Odric, Master Tactician: AI doesn't take Odric's ability into account when choosing whether to attack and which of its creatures to attack with; and (as before) the AI never causes one of your creatures to block. http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=110&t=11463&p=145372

- * The Combo Sanguine Bond and Exquisite Blood will crash the game and is not solveable due to ML pre6th rule
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14112

- * Enchantments stay on most animated land
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14113

-* Sorin Markov ultimate is approximation and Time Walk is cast instead. http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14114

-* Torchling redirection ability can't be coded in current ML
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14116

-* AI currently can't play suspendable cards
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14117

-* Wort, the Raidmother & Riku of Two Reflections spell cloning ability may not work for all X spell
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14118

-* Effect that make another combat phase cannot currently be coded correctly (Aurelia, the Warleader Godo, Bandit Warlord Hellkite Charger Relentless Assault Savage Beating)
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=11937&p=138663

-* Runed Halo is an approximation and only prevent damage
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14122

-* Soul Manipulation: Please note that you cannot return a creature from grave when casting this in the "interrupt window". http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=110&t=11942&p=133429

-* Chaos Orb - Avatar - In Vanguard Vengeance challenge mode it can choose uncoded cards. Link

-* Fastbond - triggers when lands get put into play as well as when you play them. Link

-* Yawgmoth's Will - can't play cards using alternative methods Link

-* Indestructible is an approximation

-* Mortarpod - doesn't interact well with deathtouch Link

-* Protection from creatures is currently an approximation Link

-* Guile - 2nd ability can't be coded yet Link

-* Domri Rade - the 2nd ability can not be used to make 2 of your own creatures fight if there are no creatures on AI's side (this is to avoid confusing the AI) Link

-* Power and Toughness are capped at 16383

-* Max Deck Size is 199 unique cards and 499 total cards

-* Max # of any particular type of counter on a permanent is 255

-* You can't respond to a creature cast via evoke before sacrifice (similarly you can't interrupt echo) Link This is a problem with triggers not using the stack, so effects such as championing a creature are also effected. Link

-* Creatures whose toughness depends on cards in our graveyard (such as Splinterfright) don't react well to cards that empty your graveyard Link

-* Mind Bend (and Magical Hack and Sleight of Mind) do not always work (too many possible permutations) Link

-* Cards that prevent the playing of lands don't work Link

-* Creatures that can't be blocked except by more than one creature are an approximation Link

-* trample is handled using old rules (you don't have to apply lethal damage to each blocking creature before assigning trample damage) Link

-* Certain cards that allow mana sources to provide additional types of mana (ex. Chromatic Lantern) cause the program to think more mana is available than actually is (thus highlighting spells you can't actually cast) Link

February 2014:
-* The five BNG Archetypes don't consistently prevent "X gains flying" (or whatever ability they prevent) effects from happening. They do remove flying (or whatever) while they're in play. The way they should work is that the gain-flying effect never happens, and so if the Archetype leaves play afterward the creature should still not be flying.
-* Ephara, God of the Polis doesn't count creatures that come into play after it unless Ephara is in play and not a copy of something else when they do.
-* Tromokratis doesn't work well at all with creatures that can only block depending on how other creatures are blocking, like Mogg Flunkies or Okk. Link
-* Creatures that say "This creature can't attack unless you [do something]", like Floodtide Serpent and Leviathan, still don't interact well with effects like Propaganda or with attacking planeswalkers. Link
-* Xenagos, God of Revels :If you only have creatures suffering from summoning sickness (and Xenagos is an enchantment or suffering from summoning sickness) then the program skips your combat step so you never get a chance to give a creature haste and allow it to attack. Also applies to Flamewake Phoenix.
Solution -To use Xenagos, God of Revels you have to declare the attack manually, by putting a stop on the phase or clicking on it instead of "Done" to end your first main phase.
April 2014
Clergy of the Holy Nimbus: Uses the same approximation as Knight of the Holy Nimbus - it can only be activated when it would regenerate, and it only prevents its own regeneration effect.
Thespian's Stage: Doesn't deal well with lands that set persistent storage when they come into play. This is properly a problem with the land being copied, not Thespian's Stage. (It's at least less prevalent than with Vesuvan Doppelganger or other things that switch between copies of different creatures.) They'll need to be found on a case-by-case basis.
Wall of Shadows: Isn't targetable when a spell or ability is specifically trying to target a Wall; but there's no way to tell whether a spell or ability could target a non-Wall with one of its other modes, per its Gatherer ruling.

May 2014-JOY
Battlefield Thaumaturge: The mana reduction ability isn't possible, since Manalink first charges mana, then selects targets. Leaving him in as just a 2/1 for {1} {U} with a heroic hexproof trigger almost makes a mockery of the card, but it's still not strictly inferior to anything, so we included it anyway.

Mini update 9/28
Jade Statue : 1) In order to be able to animate the Statue and attack, there should be another creature that is able to attack on your BF. It's hardcoded stuff, and I don't know how to fix it.
2) In your turn, there will be a pop-up window that'll ask you if you want to animate the statue or not. In the opponent's turn, it will function like a normal activated ability (click on it and go).

Rules of the Bug Reports section

PostPosted: 30 May 2012, 05:16

Rules of the Bug section as of PTT update :

Confirmed bugs will be left in the root folder until they are fixed. Fixed bugs will be moved to Pending Reports folder after about 24 hours. Reports that aren't a bug will either be deleted or moved to Archived Reports folder (depending on if the issue might arise again) after about 24 hours.

If you find a bug that was reported as fixed in the previous patch, please report it in a new thread and reference the old bug with a link. If confirmed, a moderator will merge the two threads in the Bug Reports root folder.

If you find a new bug about a card that was previously fixed, please mention that fact in your bug report (including a link to the old report would be great).

When the developers report a bug as fixed they will include an alphanumeric code in their post (ex. "Fixed in f19c69b"). This is a hashtag that allows them to see what they changed in the event the fix doesn't work. It has no meaning or use for non-developers.

Duh mode -NOT A BUG!

PostPosted: 26 Sep 2013, 17:02

Some cards with a 'may' option or with options that will be chosen 99% of the time are set through (config.txt) to automatically choose the obvious choice through "Duh mode:1" selection in (config.txt). If you don't want to use Duh mode replace 1 with 0.

List of cards that use it are:
Anything with the recover mechanic from Coldsnap; Anathemancer, Angel's Feather, Auntie's Snitch, Auriok Champion, Battered Golem, Battletide Alchemist, Bladewing's Thrall, Blasting Station, Bloodghast, Budoka Pupil, Callow Jushi, Caravan Vigil, Cloistered Youth, Contagion Engine, Cosi's Trickster, Counterbalance, Cunning Bandit, Deathbringer Thoctar, Demon's Horn, Distress, Dragon's Claw, Faithful Squire, Fangren Marauder, Hired Muscle, Kessig Malcontents, Kor Firewalker, Kraken's Eye, Krovikan Horror, Legacy's Allure, Liliana of the Dark Realms (-3 loyalty ability), Masked Admirers, Momir Vig, Simic Visionary, Monomania, Narcomoeba, Nether Spirit, Pardic Dragon, Pyrewild Shaman, Reach of Branches, Sosuke's Summons, Squee, Goblin Nabob, Stone-Seeder Hierophant, Suture Priest, Taurean Mauler, Thought Prison, Veilborn Ghoul, Vengevine, Wall of Reverence, Wurm's Tooth ; and anything with the same function pointer as any of those.

What to do with fixed bugs

New rule for moderators:
- Fixed bug threads of the current patch are to be moved into the Pending Reports section after ~24 hours
- When a new patch is out, all bug threads are to be moved from Pending Reports section to Archived Reports section for a final routine check : if the bug is fixed, mark it [fixed/closed] and it stays there and (hopefully) dies a peaceful death.
However, if the bug is still there, mark it [still bugged] and move it back to the Bug Reports section

Images in the OP have been deleted by Imageshack. Either the account was deleted due to inactivity or the images have exceeded their server half life. Would be nice if someone could reupload them.

Argh, didn't save them and can't do a reverse search with tineye since I don't know the filename (it's a bit weird because it shouldn't have been deleted, there are many of us who load this page for report filling...)

A big thank you to whoever replaced the images. Can't stand that yellow frog for the life of me.
