Here is some more information about installing the games.
A Java runtime 8 installation is needed. This can be found on java.com.
Then the downloaded JAR file can be placed on the desktop or somewhere else.
Use double click to run like any executable.

The compatibility with OpenJDK is not that good at the moment.
Mad Wizard works but the user interface looks different and there are no sound effects.
This is a screenshot of Mad Wizard on the latest Open JDK.

In case there are out of memory issues from Java and the UI hangs, try setting the java vm default to -Xmx1g or higher.

Both games can now run with OpenJDK 17.
