I am working on version 1.0. There are updated screens on the Wiki page.
The gameplay will be reverted back to the Magarena style duels.
You can clearly see the difference on the new and old duel screen.

I played a duel of 20 games. Gameplay is very fast, which I like. :)
What is amazing is that my winning percentage is equal to the deck strength.
Not tricked, it seems to give a really good indication.
While the cards are randomly generated, some of them look really neat.

I played some more 20 game duels.
I did not encounter any annoying bugs yet. :)
The AI can make a strange play occasionally, but gives a good challenge.

Giving custom names to the cards does not seem necessary to me for a better experience.
After playing some time with the same cards, you start to recognize the cards.
The card pictures look different enough for that purpose.
Not taking into account the rule text and symbols on a card, if there are 7 different artwork for a card, there are 200 million possible images. 8)

Another duel, this time with a lesser deck as indicated by the strength calculator.
And yes, did I get beaten by the AI. I really likes throwing 9/1 and 7/1 flyers at you.
The AI also enjoys using combat tricks, so watch out when blocking.
Gameplay is as I expected more enjoyable with the new duel mode. :)

In this duel the AI made very few mistakes, might be thanks to the fix in 1.2.
The MiniMax AI is blazing fast at the highest level thanks to the lower complexity of Dreamwalkers.

Capture of new startup screen. Much better in motion however. The supply of cards is endless. :)

Ubeefx, do you find that the sheer quantity of algorithmically generated artwork detracts from quickly recognizing similar pieces? Or is every piece unique?

Anyway, I like the color palette, and everything goes together, which is not something that happens by accident. I'm not sure how you accomplished that since I think you pick your artwork from different sources.

Thanks. :)

The number of art pieces is limited. Currently there are 583 card arts.
But card rendering and card properties generate a vast pool of different cards.
So you have to relearn the cards gradually during each duel.
The cards usually do not have a high complexity which helps.

My main source for finding high quality artwork for the cards is deviantart.
But it is time consuming to find art that fits well with how the cards are rendered.
I hope the artists like that their art is used in a game and plays an important role in the game experience.
The other art assets for icons and themes and so on comes indeed from various sources on the net.

It is possible that you get a deck that has little chance against the deck of the AI. :(
The 32 % deck strength indication is already low, but in reality it took me 19 games to have a single win.
The deck contains some good cards, but the AI received even more goodies and some good answers too.
In several games I had the edge momentarily, but the AI made no mistakes and could recover.

Another thing, I made a calculation about the number of Angel cards that can be generated as an example.

On the card rendering side, there are :
  • 14 angel arts
  • 10 foil layers
  • 8 orientations for image and foil layer
  • 372000 foil variants
This gives roughly 416 million possibilities, but not necessarily all very different from each other.

On the card properties side, there are :
  • 36 possibilities for attack + defense + cost + defender yes or no
  • 3700 possibities for abilities + rarity (estimated)
This gives roughly 133 thousand possibilities.

If the rendering and properties are combined, there are a staggering 55328 billion possible Angel cards.
And the AI can handle all of them. :D

Duels can often be very close, like this one, both players on 1 life from 30. Smash for the win. :)
This is also the updated pegasus theme.

The deck strength calculator does work really well at times and is a useful tool.
I suggest to play duels where the deck strength is between 40 and 60 %.

Finished another duel. The last game was very close. My little unblockable minion gave me the win. :)
This is one of the aspects of the game that I like. The undo is also really helpful.
Remember to play with the right mouse button, this is very quick, no hotkeys are needed except Escape for undo.
