Release 0.12 is available on the Wiki page.

I was not that happy with the gameplay of the Totem card type, so I replaced that with a Muse minion.
A muse is basically a "wall" that also functions as a "lord" in Magic speech.
This does mean that this new release is not compatible with old saves.
Also an issue with reincarnate trigger and tokens is fixed.
The artwork file now provides 350 additional card images.

Enjoy. :)

I'm glad that you keep improving dreamwalkers. I just downloaded the newest version :D

Been very busy lately with other non programming related stuff.
Glad that Magarena is in good hands, I would not have had the time to do a significant release.
I might alter the next Dreamwalkers release back to the Magarena duel style.
I could also add a collector feature so that some cards can be collected after winning a duel.
Then some of the cards in the random deck could come randomly from that collection.

Version 1.0 is released on the Wiki page.
Gameplay is now like the Magarena style duels. I think it is better this way.
Tutorial is removed, this game has become very straightforward.
But it could be helpful to read the updated help page.

Enjoy. :D

OK ubeefx, we'll see how it goes!

I will miss the tutorial, even if it isn't needed.

Version 1.1 is released on the Wiki page.
The artwork download file is now integrated in the game for convenience.

Major change is five new triggers, which provide some more varations for the cards.
  • disarm : disarms (by unattaching all gear) minions in combat :)
  • revive : variation on persist and undying using a token instead of counter
  • reinforce : lets a minion become more dangerous on each of your turns
  • replace : draw a fragment when coming into play
  • sting : deal damage to a minion when coming into play

Enjoy!

Version 1.2 is released on the Wiki page.

There is a bug fixed that likely caused the AI to make bad plays.
The static variables were not copied correctly in the simulation games.
As an additional bonus there are 20 new card images.

Enjoy. :D

Version 1.3 is released on the Wiki.

It features four new minion types, 50 new card images and some new avatars.
Also there is now the Forge effect in orange, which unattaches and copies a gear fragment.
This also just happens to be the name of another project on this forum. :)

Enjoy!

Version 1.4 is released on the Wiki.

It features a new sound effect when a permanent is destroyed.
While the sounds effects are minimal, for me they add a lot to the experience. :D
As a bonus there are 10 new downloadable card arts.

Enjoy.

A year ago Magarena went gold. Other people took over and it is still alive. :D
A lot of other stuff happened in my life, so I had much less time for this hobby.
I still spent considerable time on developing Dreamwalkers.

Now release 1.5 is available on the Wiki.

It features new artwork and avatars. The splashscreen footprint is reduced.
The storm theme is gone and the nature theme has changed, see last screenshot on Wiki.
All the effect fragments now have a custom art.
So gone are the positive, neutral and negative arts which made the effects look too generic.
This was a flaw, but too be honest, finding good art for effects is hard.

The attack and defense can't be lower than zero rule is removed.
Some of the activated abilities have changed.
And there is the resistant of colorless ability, that as a drawback also prevents attaching gear.

Enjoy!

Release 1.6 is available on the Wiki.

I implemented a small software 3D card renderer to allow animations. 3D coding used to be a hobby of mine.
Currently it is only used in the start screen to show randomly generated cards in a fancy way.

The deck distribution is now always fixed to 16 minion, 10 effect and 4 gear fragments.

As a bonus there are 30 new arts. Thanks to the many artists for their excellent work.

Enjoy! :)

Release 1.7 is available on the Wiki.

It features 65 additional arts and 2 new avatars.
The pegasus and demonic themes are updated.

There is now a maximum of two times the same fragment type in a generated deck, except for gear fragments.
The fortify effect is improved.

My Dreamwalkers todo list is actually empty now. More time to play. :)

Enjoy!

Release 1.8 is available on the Wiki.

It has a slightly fancier random card animation and some more artwork.
There is now a swap decks button that also resets the score.

Enjoy! :)

Well I did not get a lot of feedback on this project so I guess this is it for now.
I think the latest release is enjoyable and able to showcase what I wanted to do.
I guess most people prefer playing with real life cards from Magic or other TCG.

This is sad news. I've always hoped this forum would be less MTG oriented but it hasn't turned out that way yet and we have to face reality. Still, I refuse to give up my hope.

ubeefx, there's one main reason that I play Magarena more than Dreamwalkers, and that is the terminology. Dreamwalkers duplicates many functions from MTG, but uses different names for all of them, which makes learning the game harder. Dreamwalkers is an impressive piece of work which solves some of the weaknesses of MTG, like land shortages. How hard would it be to change the terms to be more MTG-like?
