DotP2012 & 2013: Replacing the starting screen

Replacing the starting screen on DotP2012:
Do you have the high-resolution image of a cool card and you'd like to use it as a starting screen for DotP2012 replacing Liliana Vess on the throne?
You only need:
1) A custom DLC to put the new image in.
2) Paint.NET and the TDX plugin, both of which you can find in this topic by kevlahnota: viewtopic.php?f=65&t=2956
Just open the image you want in Paint.NET, resize it to 1920x1080, and save it as DARK_TRANS.TDX. This TDX file doesn't need transparency, so you can use DTX1 compression and uncheck "Weight Colour By Alpha" when asked by the TDX plugin: this way you'll save as much space as possible. The result should be about 1.3 MBytes.
Put DARK_TRANS.TDX in DATA_PC\DATA_SHARED\ART_ASSETS\TEXTURES inside your custom DLC and repack it. You'll see your image as starting screen (unless you have a DLC with a higher number that has a custom starting screen as well).
If you want to add some graphics to your image (mostly to fill unused space in case your image doesn't fit in 1920x1080), I suggest to open the core WAD and copy some graphics from DATA_PC\DATA_SHARED\ART_ASSETS\HUD\WINNER_BELT.TDX, which is the image you see in the middle of the screen when a match is over.
I attached an example here: a starting screen with the illustration of the card Deadly Allure.
Replacing the starting screen on DotP2013:
Not much changed from the DotP2012 way. You still need:
1) A custom WAD to put the new image in.
2) Paint.NET and the TDX plugin, both of which you can find in this topic by kevlahnota: viewtopic.php?f=65&t=2956
Just open the image you want in Paint.NET, resize it to 1280x720, and save it as BOLAS_START_SCREEN.TDX. This TDX file doesn't need transparency, so you can use DTX1 compression and uncheck "Weight Colour By Alpha" when asked by the TDX plugin: this way you'll save as much space as possible. The result should be about 600 KBytes.
Put BOLAS_START_SCREEN.TDX in DATA_ALL_PLATFORMS\ART_ASSETS\FRONTEND inside your custom WAD and repack it. You'll see your image as starting screen (unless you have another WAD that has a custom starting screen as well and is processed after yours, probably because its name is ahead in alphabetical order).
If you want to add some graphics to your image (mostly to fill unused space in case your image doesn't fit in 1280x720), I suggest to open the core WAD and copy some graphics from DATA_ALL_PLATFORMS\ART_ASSETS\HUD\WINNER_BELT.TDX, which is similar to the image you could see on DotP2012 in the middle of the screen when a match was over.
I attached an example here: a starting screen with the illustration of the card Deadly Allure (I just resized the DotP2012 example ).
Note that my DotP2013 mod's "Cosmetic" WAD file changes the loading screen (among other things), so if you need a starting point, you can use that one and change the TDX file to the one of your choice.

thefiremind, is this tutorial applicable to 2013? I tried it word for word but for some reason the title screen you made of Aurelia, The Warleader contines to display. That title screen is awesome by the way.

I added the updated version of the guide. It's almost the same, but the TDX name is different, the directory has changed, and the size is smaller (I don't know if using a 1920x1080 image would shrink it to fit or would display it cut, I never tried).Kieran wrote:thefiremind, is this tutorial applicable to 2013? TFM, is it possible to change the starting screens in DOTP 2014 using this method?
