Hi, my first post so... hello I'm Nico, cool to be here with you :-)

As I play with forge for some time now, I see all the good work that have been done, greetings guys it's really great.

Here is my list of possible features:
  • Can we have a "generate valid format deck" option in the constructed page of Forge ?
  • Can we have a "generate specific(s) set(s) deck" option in the constructed page of Forge ?
  • Can we have challenge like "Dungeons challenge" (each stairs increase deck level until the boss deck) ?
  • Can we have challenge like "Waves challenge" (like fighting waves of small decks) ?
  • Can we have a tutorial page with real playing not only reading (every game should have a tutorial ! :-)) ?
  • Can we have an option to import a Forge Deck into another in the deck builder ?
  • Can you display the name of each sections (Scheme/Plane/Card...) in the deck builder (need to look the "type" column to see what sections it is) ?
  • Can we have a "copy card infos to clipboard" option when right clicking on a card in the deck builder ?
  • Can we have more deck statistics ?
  • Can you change the "draw order" page layout in order to make it more readable (mini cards for first hand, differents colors...) ?
  • Can the basic lands and the non basic lands be sorted together in the current deck spreasheet ?
  • Can we have local network battle ? ;-) just kidding...

Have a nice day

I would like to request something very simple, but something that bothers me every single time I use the deck editor. Maybe there is already a way to do this, but I didn't find it and frankly speaking if it's there, it's not intuitive to new users. I'm also apologizing if this has been requested before.

So here it is: Please add a button to directly change the number of cards in your deck without the need to search for the card first (or make it possible to change the number directly like in excel for example). I know that I can subtract cards by doubleclick but I didn't found an option for adding them directly.

The reasons I ask for this are:

First an foremost, I cannot add lands if I already have lands of the same type in my deck! Forge either OVERWRITES the lands or does nothing at all when I click the add button (example: I have 13 mountains and want to add 2 mountains => I have two mountains in my deck and the others disappear.). I think the problem is that forge randomly chooses the edition of the lands and so they almost never match (but it also doesn't allow lands from different editions in the same deck oO ).

Second, its much faster than searching for the card every time.

Third, no more issues with different edition cards (see first argument).

This change would be much apreciated and improve my favourite magic app even further.

For Dev Mode:
Breaking Trigger. So, if the game stucks because of a trigger which can't resolve, you can simply break that trigger artificially and resume playing...

I've requested it a couple of times (this seems easy enough to implement) already, but...

In the deck editor, I should able to search for more than one colour while not excluding gold cards and excluding gold cards that aren't of the selected colours, while also having the ability to exclude certain terms.

For example, this search in Gatherer is currently impossible within Forge's deck editor. Why shouldn't this be possible?

Breaking it down a little: With the exception of split cards, I've filtered it to only include red, blue, and gold cards that are only red and blue, while excluding gold cards that have red or blue but not both. Shouldn't this be easy to implement? Additionally, I've added the following to the search:

x Text:
x does NOT contain detain
x does NOT contain battalion
x does NOT contain cipher
x does NOT contain bloodrush
x does NOT contain unleash
x does NOT contain evolve
This results in red and blue cards that don't contain non-Izzet keywords, making it thematically consistent with a theoretical Izzet-themed deck should I want to do so.

Unless I've missed a major function somewhere, I can't assign a "NOT" to a search term right now, can I? It would be great if these two were added somehow, as I've wanted to exclude entire sets from, say, a format like Modern, but haven't been able to do it in the deck editor.

Since various cards show their relationships in status window (like what is exiled with Oblivion Ring), would it be possible to implement this for haunt as well (so haunted creature would show what it's haunted by and haunting card would show what it's haunting)?

Also, would it be possible to expand the token system so cards would produce the correct version of the tokens instead of being limited to one picture per token? For example, Fresh Meat and Garruk Wildspeaker both produce 3/3 green Beasts, but there's big difference between nasty, Phyrexian Beast from NPH and a gentle monstrosity from LRW.

Another suggestion: Would it be possible to include line describing the color of card in text window, if it's different from what it would normally be?

First things first. Thank you very much for the effort you put into the game, keep up with the great work!!

Now, it would be possible to make the challenges look more like to the Shandalar dungeons, with the maze, enemies in the corner, and the reward?

I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but....

In quest mode, after I acquire ~5000 cards, forge starts slowing down, dramatically around 8000.

So, maybe some sort of storage chest function? Keep the cards, but not have them immediately accessible in deck editor or shops, mostly shops.

Also, maybe a way to mark cards as not for sale? I.E. I play for Ante most of the time, and managed to collect 5 Mox Emeralds but was only able to sell them for ~30% and would have rather waited a while to sell it, but sold it with the "sell all extras" button.

This might sound odd: Command-line interface for AI vs. AI battles.

I just finished analyzing the Ravnica World decks by pitting them against each other (see my post in the World Deck Development thread.) I only did some of the combinations of match-ups, but it was very tedious to start and record data for 530 games. I'd like to do similar analyses of other sets of decks, but it would be a hundred times easier with a CLI.

Here's what it might look like:
Code: Select all
>Forge.exe "deck1.dck" "deck2.dck" /g:3
deck1.dck: 1
deck2.dck: 2
In this example, the computer runs three games, and deck1 won once and lost twice.

Would this be a low-level change, like Archenemy or AI vs. AI, or would it be mostly an interface tweak, like Gauntlet?

That's not odd, but quite an expected request.
I'd rather return complete game logs.

Will be implemented, hopefully this month (by 1.4.4). Check release notes.

Since we have Archenemy (albeit imperfect) and Planechase, would it be possible to include more than two players in Constructed in Free-for-All?

Also, how exactly does the random deck algorithm work? Most notably, I've only seen a small subset of lands, even dual - never seen Ice Age, Invasion, Coldsnap, Shadowmoor, Odyssey etc. dual lands, not even for humans.

Suggestions for next version release

Postby MadHatter83 » 22 Jul 2013, 03:10

It would be nice to have a thread where all us users can make suggestions about improvements we would value to the program. I'll start by sharing a couple of mine, then please share yours.

Make volume adjustable instead of off/on only.
This game is significantly louder than my other applications and sometimes I want to use both, so this issue can't be corrected with my general system volume controls.

Add function to right click menu to add more copies of cards in a loaded deck.
Each time I want to add one more of something, I have to search then add it from the search menu. Kind of a PITA when making minor changes to several cards between every few games. Seems easy to add an extra menu function to Add, since there's already the code written from the search area and the code from the remove 1 that's already in the menu.

I've never felt the need to ask for any feature so far, but there is one little thing that I would REALLY like to see. In the deck editor, the "deck" pane has buttons for "remove card" and "remove four cards". Could a "add card" button be added? It's annoying having to search for a card each time I want to add one more instance of a card, especially when it's for a land of a certain set.

thanks!
