The mobile version doesn't seem to able to load larger decks. I tried to play with Cyclops 2, and the game hangs on loading thegame.

I thought I'd throw out a little teaser of what I'm currently working on:

DraftScreen.png

Krazy has been hard at work adding drafting to quest mode, and since he also asked that I prioritize adding drafting to the mobile game back on the first page of this thread, I felt it only fair to honor that request before working on other enhancements.

Hopefully I'll have it working by the end of the weekend if all goes well.

So I downloaded a program called IrFanview and used its save a batch file feature and converted all the pictures form the desktop from progressive jpg to basic jpg. All pictures are now working for me. Its a very simple process and i recommend everyone do it until they can fix the built in downloader.

Batch conversion took 5 minutes (big time saver)

If you have questions just send me a message. Can't wait for drafting.

I've made some more progress on drafting. I managed to configure the following screen for the drafting process:

DraftingProcess.png

Keep in mind that this screenshot is at 320x480 resolution, so the cards should be much more readable on an actual device. And even if it's still not super clear, you can zoom in with two finger zoom or long pressing cards, or switch to list view.

Note from the screenshot that there are tabs for Main and Side. I decided to take a page from MTGO and support deck building while drafting, instead of having to wait until after. This way you can move cards between your main deck and sideboard while still in the middle of the draft. By default, picks will go into the main deck if you double tap them. In addition, I'm thinking of adding drag drop support so you can drag cards to either the Main tab or Side tab to specify where they should go.

I'm certainly interested in feedback on this design if you have any.

Thanks.

I've been finding the list items for decks to be way too tall such that you can never see more than a few decks at a time. So I went ahead and reduced them from three lines to two so they are the same height as list items for cards.

Let me know if you think there's anything else I could or should tweak here.

Thanks.

How do I block a creature with multiple blockers? I went to click on another creature to block it with and it just zoomed in on that card.

Did the attacker still have the icon on it and did the prompt indicate that you could select a blocker? Are you sure the card you tapped on was able to block the attacker? If it couldn't block the attacker, then zooming is the expected behavior.

I couldn't tell that it was letting the other blocker block as well and yes both were able to block. I try it again. Yes it said I could still block. Edit I got it to work just by selecting the blockers.

By the time I got done working on the Draft screen, it ended up being pretty easy to add Sealed Deck support too. So that will also be available in the next release.

Note that the booster draft screen has also been tweaked to display bigger buttons for New Draft and Edit Deck at the bottom (instead of the New Booster Draft Game button at the top), similar to the screenshot above.

For those that wish to convert the forge desktop pictures from progressive jpegs to standard jpegs, here are the instructions.

1. Update all the pictures for your desktop forge. For my examples i am usng windows 7 as my operating system.
2. Download http://www.irfanview.com/ and install the software.
3. Create a folder (destination folder on your desktop) I called mine test.
4. OPen the irfanview software, on the left hand side of the app you will see a folder structure.
5. Expand the structure and locate your card folder for forge: Mine was located at C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\Forge\Cache\pics\cards.
6. Click options at the top and go "select all"
7. Next click on File on the top menu, select "Start batch dialog with selected files..."
8. a Batch conversion pop-up will open, in the Batch conversion settings, select Output format as JPG (drop down box). Next click on the Options button to the right of it.
9. A JPEG/GIF save options box will open. Slide the save quality bar to the right so it shows 100% or good. Make sure Save progressive JPEg is unchecked and leave everything else alone, hit the ok button.
10. Next go to the section output directory for result files, and browse to your new folder that created earlier on the desktop.
11. Click Start Batch and it should be done in 20 seconds.

Now you can transfer these pictures to your android device and you should not get any errors and have all the pictures, cheers!

@Rosieodonell - Thank you for posting that workaround. I've linked to your post from the Known Issues section of this thread's first post so people with the same problem can find your workaround.

Hopefully we can get the downloadable pics updated on the servers at some point to be zipped up so this is no longer necessary. I'll admit I'm still confused why I'm not able to reproduce the issue on phone. Maybe it depends on your device whether it can handle them or now.

I'm hoping the next items to knock out are those that will allow quest mode to work on Android. As part of that, support for large decks, say up to about 1000 cards, would be good.

On my Google Nexus 7, I am able to load and play with Cyclops 2. I can view it using the "View Deck" button, too. It'll respond a bit slowly in the deck viewing screen until all the pictures are loaded the first time, but after that it's pretty smooth. It could be a different story for a phone, though.

So as an update, I'm working through some of the finer details of deck editing in general, which I'd prefer to do before releasing Booster Draft and Sealed Deck formats in the Alpha. I'm almost done, so stay tuned.
