Thanks for testing this scanner.

But there were only black cards and Artifacts? It would be better for judging to have at least one example of every color.

The the first foil card scan looks promising.
The Sol Ring needs a little color correction but looks OK too.

If you are able to get scans from the other colors and eventually some lands that would be helpful.
May be you have find with the EPSON 4490 a suitable scanner. So far I know this scanner was available in 2005 (the same time as my CanoScan). I'm not able to find a dealer in Germany that holds this scanner currently in stock.

But I think it is urgent to find an actual scanner that is suitable for scanning foil cards.
What scanner do you use for your own foil scans?

Let me know what you think. I ended up purchasing one of these since they only had 1 left in stock and if its not acceptable I will take it back. Also do you have one of the Canon's and if so can you post a sample scan of a card from it so I may see its quality?

What scanner do you use for your own foil scans?
For the last so many sets I have a Canon MP620B but sadly over the last couple weeks we have had some bad power flickering / spikes and its starting to sometimes not complete scans and am looking for a suitable replacement. Thats why the Epson has caught my eye.

Good scanners starts about $250-300USD.
If you plan to scan foil cards, so don't buy a LED scanner. Such a scanner produces only stripes if you try to scan a foil card.
Even I have got led scanner and it is not cheap at all.. Poor quality so I need to change it

For anyone interested, my scanner is an Epson Perfection 4490 Photo. I've done a number of set scans for the CCG team.

I purchased a new CCD scanner: the CanoScan 9000F Mark II. They run $200 as of September 2014. The colors are highly accurate, even without a color profile. Extreme approved this scanner for both regular and foil cards. I will be using it to scan complete sets starting with KTK.

Congrats skibulk!

By the way, I'm back and alive and ready to start scanning again myself so I'll be running through the good old missing promos list and working my way chronologically. Not sure who to send the scans to just yet but I'll at least get things going again.

I still do the promos, you can send them to me :) thing is, I'm not sure the missing list is being kept updated, I haven't seen posts from Mahamoti for quite a while now.

I'm keeping a missing promos list. It's in the promo card thread. I will update it for the cards just released and the new-border cards waiting for processing and repost in the next day or so.
