Unable to connect to server. Cannot find free port to use.

Postby JetMapex » 15 Apr 2014, 04:42

I am having an issue connecting to the server and through localhost.

I have tried multiple times with different settings, i am using a windows 8 laptop and the problem wont change, every time i get the same message "Unable to connect to server. Cannot find free port to use."

If anyone can help with this or knows what is wrong it would be much appreciated, this is probably an extremely noob question but regardless im still having the problem.

Thanks

Sounds like a firewall problem of the windows firewall.

Try switching off the firewall for a test. If it works without you're sure it's caused by the firewall.

Don't know Windows 8, but normally you're asked by windows if a program wants to pass the firewall and you can add the program to the programs allowed to pass.

And it happens in both cases?
1) Connection to local server (via localhost).
2) Connection to public server.

I just turned off my AVG completely (including the firewall) and the windows firewall as well and got the same message, and yes on both localhost and public server, if you have any other ideas they are much appreciated

JBoss Code that creates the error messge:
http://viewvc.jboss.org/cgi-bin/viewvc. ... iew=markup

Look at the second post from the link, I guess it's technical the same problem on your side. The JBoss software (that handles the communication between the server and the client) can't allocate any port on your system.
The problem can only be caused by your specific network setup.
You must solve the problem within your system.
Maybe someone with some more windows system knowlege can help you to check/change your windows configuration?

Unable to launch Client

Postby DarkMedicine » 28 Jan 2015, 17:27

I hope someone can help with this because I am really wanting to try this out. Here is my issue. I have downloaded the client, upgraded to the 0.3.0 version, and made sure that java is there, but when I try to connect to the server I get a long block of test error messages. I am running Windows 8. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the client, and the java (including all other versions of java from my system and still get this issue. Here is a SS on the error test:

I hope someone has had this experience before and can help me.
Thanks in advance.

Something on your system is blocking the ports (e.g. anti virus or firewall).

PROBLEM SOLVED

If you use Windows in Turkish. You get that error. If you add english language (not keyboard or localization language but MENU language) you can connect.
Or you can install fresh english OS to your system.

Can creators solve this issue? it is about turkish letters and java problem. like ıI iİ .

I found the problem. It did not help if I disabled AVG antivirus, but worked after I completely deleted it from my laptop. Might be the case with other antivirus programmes as well.
