Overwhelmed by Awesomeness

Postby doenerchef » 27 Sep 2016, 21:56

Hey guys!

I haven't been here in a while, and I am so excited about all the news. Wow. Shandalar with more cards, I can't believe it.

Now... I am not as young and mentally agile as I used to be, so if you could just tell me if I understand the installation process correctly (interested in Shandalar):

1. Follow instructions in this post http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=183809#p183809 by CirothUngol.
2. Install the update in this post http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=200038#p200038 by Korath.
3. Hotfix with the patch in this post http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=200979#p200979 by Korath.
4. Install card art from the post from step 1.

Is this correct? Sorry guys, if I am asking stupid questions...

You can have a go for a start here (1st post), then here (last posts) for the latest news and updates, which has the latest patch here.

Thank you, that's fantastic!

Two more questions, if I may:

1) I guess bug reports are only appreciated when I am using the latest version (DL3)?
2) Are mistakes made by the AI considered bugs? I have noted a few (possible) mistakes so far, e.g. Addle being cast when my hand was empty (although the opponent had Demon's Horn and could draw life that way), Wring Flesh being cast on their own creature, turning a 2/2 Cadaverous Knight into a 0/1 creature and (this might be an actual bug, but I haven't upgraded to DL3 yet) the Okina Nightwatch not receiving their +3/+3 boost when I hold more cards than my opponent.

You can report bugs in the bug tracker. Look at the top of this page where there's a blue menu which says Forum - Wiki - Bugs - Magic Album , go to bugs, go to Shandalar program bugs and report away.

Also, which deckpack are you using? If it's mine I REALLY need to update it :S

My Shandalar deck pack folder is avaliable here:Dropbox
Leave feedback on particular decks here: Google doc
Ask for instructions, give feedback and complaints here: Thread

Please report AI mistakes at this time only if they're severe: the AI doesn't ever cast the spell or use the ability, or it only ever uses it against the wrong player. Behavior with Addle wouldn't qualify - I already know the AI puts too high a value on life and not enough on keeping instants and sorceries in its hand. Wring Flesh doesn't either, since it'll generally use it against the correct player except during combat (where its bug is known, inherited from the original game, and very difficult to deal with - see #531 - hence "only ever uses it against the wrong player").

I've fixed Okina Nightwatch and Secretkeeper; they both gave their bonus only if you had more than 6 cards, instead of more than your opponent.

All those "bugs" occurred when playing with the packed version provided by Spork. That is AS3. I have since upgraded to DL3, so I assume that the Okina Nightwatch will work properly now.

Thank you for your feedback, I think I understand and I will try to use bug reports sparingly.

I made the fix to Okina Nightwatch today, in response to your report. So you won't see it until the next release (HS3 - I'm no longer maintaining the Dragon's Lair series).

Oh, I see! No worries, that was just a misunderstanding - I hope it didn't sound like a demand.

Found another one, not sure if it is me misunderstanding the rules or a bug:
Hurricane affected my Slivers even though I had a Crystalline Sliver out. I kinda remember that Wrath of God would wipe out your creatures even if they have Shroud, but does that include spells that deal X damage?

Shroud only protect from spells that say "target", usually spells that affect all creatures or its owner (player sacrifice a creature) can bypass it.
