Please report here any problems/bugs you have while installing or updating XMage.

Best add information what exactly you do and exactly what error message or reaction of the system you get.

It's always a good thing to post also the error message from the xmage_launcher.log file in launcher directory, if any error is written to the log concerning the problem.

Known problems:

JAVA
Java gives the following error message:

XMage download is stops before the download completes
The launcher uses two different sources to download XMage release. Seems like some people have problems with downloading from one of the sources. Normally the launcher should switch to the second source if the other fails automatically. But it sounds like that this does not always work correctly. I switched the order of the download sources, so try again now, if that helps.

I was able to use the launcher to update to 1.4.16v0 this morning, but updating to v1 failed just now.

I'm recenty having similar problem. Launcher detects the new version 1.4.16v1, updates up to 10% or so, and then there appears the message that the new version is available, again...

I downloaded the 16v1w file from the release thread successfully. Something wrong with the 16v1o download source I think.

I ran into the same problem, uninstalled and reinstalled java and a new version of Xmage. It's still not working and the error message is the following after initial install and first attempt to update:

Hello I have been trying to download xMage for a good few hours now and have had little to no success.
I have attempted to unzip the zip file and then when I go to run the program the terminal states that It hasn't been installed.
It comes out with this text every time I press the 'Check Versions' button:

So, what's going on? I'm getting about 2/3 of the way through the download and it randomly stops...

Copying the text from the xmage_launcher.log (same folder as your launcher) is more beneficial that copying the text from the launcher window itself. Just copy the latest error by date from xmage_launcher.log (you can see the date after ERROR), not the entire file.

The launcher download for 1.4.16v2o failed for me with the truncated zip error.

I have been trying to install XMage. I'm being told XMage not found. Updating isn't helping and when i check the version it runs for a minute and tells me it's not there again. How do I fix this? My Java is up to date.

The launcher won't update completely. It gets about halfway through the download of 1.4.16v2 and then stops and the new version available message pops up.

Cannot update to 16v2

more over, where l could actually launch the client with 16v1 even tho there was a newer version, l cannot even start the client anymore...
That indicates to me the older version has been removed, just not replaced with...

This is getting really sad...

Try deleting and reinstalling xmage completely. Make sure to save the image folder before so you dont need to redownload all of them. This worked for me

After several trys (a lot) i finally managed to succeed this way. I tried a lot of different ways, downloaded the different 1.4.16 releases before, nothing worked, i deleted everything, made a new installation on my ssd, nothing worked. I'm not sure if there was an update or if it was just random, cause this last time it worked normally.

Version 1.4.16v3w won't download with either the launcher or clicking on the download link (Version 1.4.16v2w as there isn't a link up for 3w).

LevelX: Try again now, maybe the file to dwonload was corrupt. I reuploaded the file.
