Forge: 02/17/2019 ver 1.6.21
Desktop: https://releases.cardforge.org/forge/forge-gui-desktop/1.6.21/forge-gui-desktop-1.6.21.tar.bz2
RNA bug fix release.. Please let us know if you see any other bugs most especially for the newers cards.
Forge now requires Java 8 (or newer). You will not be able to start the game if you are not yet running Java 8.
We have a Discord server for hanging out with Forge devs and other Forge fans. Feel free to jump on in and say hi!
Online Multiplayer is once again functional!
New Cards
Zephyr Gull; Tactical Advantage; Titanic Pelagosaur; Treetop Warden; Cruel Cut; Confront the Assault; Goblin Bruiser; Goblin Gang Leader; Inspiring Commander; Angelic Reward; River's Favor; Nimble Pilferer; Soulhunter Rakshasa; Shrine Keeper; Shorecomber Crab; Blinding Radiance; Ogre Painbringer; Feral Roar
Ordering Pop-up Zones
In the desktop interface the pop-up windows showing players' zones can be ordered as the cards in the zone are or by card name. Right click in the window title to toggle between the two orderings.
Bug fixes
As always, this release of Forge features an assortment of bug fixes and improvements based on user feedback during the previous release run.
Known issues are here: https://git.cardforge.org/core-developers/forge/issues
Feel free to report your own there if you have any.
The Forge archive includes a MANUAL.txt file and we ask that you spend a few minutes reading this file as it contains some information that may prove useful. We do tend to update this file at times and you should quickly read this file and look for new information for each and every new release. Thank you.
The archive format used for the Forge distribution is ".tar.bz2". There are utilities for Windows, Mac OS and the various *nix's that can be used to extract/decompress these ".tar.bz2" archives. We recommend that you extract/decompress the Forge archive into a new and unused folder.
Some people use the Windows application 7zip. This utility can be found at http://www.7-zip.org/download.html. Mac users can double click on the archive and the application Archive Utility will launch and extract the archive. Mac users do not need to download a separate utility.
Once the Forge archive has been decompressed you should then be able to launch Forge by using the included launcher. Launching Forge by double clicking on the forge jar file in the past caused a java heap space error. Forge's memory requirements have increased over time and the launchers increase the java heap space available to Forge. Currently you can launch Forge by double clicking on the forge jar file without a java heap space error but this is likely to change as we add in more sounds, icons, etc.
- The Mac OS application version -
We haven't been able to distribute the OS X Application version of Forge in sometime. We've recently automated our release tools, and will continue to look in the viability of creating this file now that things are autoamted.
- Online Multiplayer -
For local network play you should only need two systems running Forge. One to host and one to join and play. For remote (over the Internet) play you will need to ensure that the port used (36743 by default) is forwarded to the hosting machine.

Forge considers Rampaging Brontodon an illegal card for brawl. From the log file:
- Code: Select all
Excluding deck: 'Lexie's Gruul Domri' Reason: 'Rampaging Brontodon' is not legal.

One strange bug, with Skarrgan Hellkite and (maybe?) any planeswalker. When the AI chooses to use the ability of the Skarrgan Hellkite to do direct damage against an Ajani, Wise Counselor, Forge just stops working.
Edit:
The AI doesn't use the first ability of Domri, Chaos Bringer.
The AI will always play Spawn of Mayhem, even when it has only 1 life left.

Teferi's Protection is not protecting my life total.
I gave my opponent multiple extra turns with Lethal Vapors. He did not attack me with any creatures during his first turn after I then cast Teferi's Protection, so perhaps my life total was protected on that turn. On his second turn after I cast (with no intervening turn for the Teferi's Protection effect to end), he attacked me with his creatures and killed me.

Not sure if this is covered by a known issue, but divide damage effects are still crashing the game when used by the AI.

When opening another deck in the deck editor, the deck name doesn't change. Like if you had Deck1.dek selected before, and you tried to open Deck2.dek, the name in the title field stays as Deck1. This makes it really easy to overwrite Deck1 with Deck2's cards.

Request to have the Nephilim allowed as commanders. My playgroup allows them to be used as commanders, and I would like to be able to play my Witch-Maw Nephilim deck.

Hmm.. looks like this has been broken forever? And by forever, I mean at least since 2012. But probably since whenever the first card with this ability was added.gos wrote:Teferi's Protection is not protecting my life total.

Estrid, the Masked second ability that put a totem token into play does not work or do anything.

Cast Emergency Powers in my first main phase, was not given the option of putting a permanent into play.
