Magic Album Updater r128 - "Can't download file"

Postby rogueburger » 09 May 2011, 16:10

I'm probably just being stupid and doing something wrong, but I recently downloaded the Auto Updater from the link here, but when I tell it to update I get a "Can't download file" message. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

I just downloaded the updater and ran it on a previous version of the application and it updated it accordingly. Are you behind any kind of proxy or firewall?

I am having the same problem. I am running McAfee and windows firewall. I have made sure that Updater is allowed access through both programs. Not sure what to check next.

I just had this same problem.

I recently reformatted and went to reinstall Magic Album.

Running the updater without an install zip immediately returned a "can't download file" error.

Fortunately I had backup of the install zips.

Running the updater with just the 1.0.4 zip downloaded several files and then the "can't download file" error.

Running updater from the 1.1.8 update worked. (I didn't try the inbetween files but could if you'd like.

The latest Updater.exe v142.0.0.0?

Can you reproduce the problem? If so, send me Updater.log file.

After much testing, it seems that the updater will fully install from any install zip or an empty directory as long as the program never loses focus.

If the updater is in the background or minimized then it may stop updating. Always in a different spot according to updater.log but always giving "Download error 42"

All of this was done with the current updater (r142)
