Can't Download OTP.
by ivansla » 18 May 2011, 10:45
Hi guys,
I'm new here and to Magic. I read some forums and they suggest that OTP is better than MWS. Anyway my problem is that when I go to site: www.onlineplaytable.com and I click to download the client, after the timeout I receive a message that I could connect to updates.onlineplaytable.com.
Is there a maintenance going on or something else?
Is there a mirror somewhere to download this client?

I second this question, I tried downloading Online Playtable from the official site for several days already and the server it's located on (updates.onlineplaytable.com for memory) appears to be down, I click on the download link and get a time out error. Is there some kind of a mirror to download from? And is the project still alive?

Hi, the updates domain is hosted by myself and the isp changed my IP so it was unavailable for a while.
I suppose creating a torrent for it would be a great idea, but then there is the problem with versioning.
Will try to keep my host "up" from now on, else will have to migrate back to a paid hosting service.

OMG JORBES YOU'RE BACK! <3
You could always just host on Mediafire (or at least Mirror).

Wasn't really gone, but as usual, just when I wanted to get back to coding for OPT, work got insanely busy and since they do pay for the nice things I get to have and do, they kinda get priority
Will consider "offshore" file hosting for mirroring purposes.
Do hope all is okay now with the updates.onlineplaytable.com domain, if not, let me know.

Splendid. You should do what I do, live in Communist Europe and be an Unemployed bum!
In any case, glad you are back-though-you-never-left.

Jorbes, are there reasons you don't want to mirror the file?

Mainly version control.
The client and server are still pretty tied together via versions, so any "stray" versions out there could cause confusion.
Other than that, I don't mind mirrors one bit, or torrents for that matter.
