Updater r142 - Error 7 on Windows Vista (32-Bit)

Postby DarkAngel » 28 Jul 2011, 16:58

Hi,

I have a probelm getting the program (to run). Everytime I start the "Updater.exe" and click on "Verify" or "Update" it tells me "Can't connect to server".

The "Updater.txt" file tells me then:

Downloading Update.txt
Download error 7

I am running Windows Vista (or Windows 7 on my other PC - same error there). I run the Update.exe as Admin, set Port 80 in Firewall to "free" and set "Updater.exe" in Windows-Firewall to trust (so it should have all needed rights).

When I click on "Start Magic Album" the Updater disappears, but no other program starts or something.

I did not find anything about that in this forum, so I started a new topic (hopefully it's not totally wrong posted). What could I do to get the Updater running?
(Windows Vista 32-Bit or Windows 7 64-Bit: Always this behaviour)

Thanks a lot for your help and your time programming this!

Error 7 means 'could not connect to the server'. Something wrong with the internet connection in general. Are you behind the proxy?

I don't use a proxy. Simply connected to the router and then into the www ...

Is there a way to change the connection-config of Updater.exe?

EDIT:
Thanks for your advice! I checked that and found out that - for some reason - I had a problem with a Norton product which did not deleted itself correctly and thus Port 80 was blocked.

Now everything works fine. Big thanks!
