Re: Dreamwalkers latest release 0.6

From the feedback I got an in game tutorial will be a must, so that will be the main new feature of 0.7.
I was going to explain the game on the Wiki first, but might just skip that part in favour of the tutorial.
Now the game is more or less a strange puzzle what you are expected to do. :)

Cool! Will it be a real take-you-by-the-hand interactive tutorial, or a simpler readme type thing?

The tutorial will certainly help a lot and if it is a step by step one even more(this would be more professional but I guess it needs a lot of work to implement it.)

I am planning an interactive one with some reading, will see how it works out. :D
I also added a new minion called Muse, which is a wall pet the opponent receives for some added difficulty.
The opponent also gets higher starting life depending on level.

Re: Dreamwalkers latest release 0.7

Postby ubeefx » 15 Aug 2011, 16:50

Release 0.7 is available on the Dreamwalkers Wiki page.

It features the interactive tutorial. This was quite some work.
But it is important to know that Dreamwalkers is still largely based on the Magarena rules.

New are the Muse wall minion for the opponent, the wield ability and three additional minion types.
With the updated artwork download file there are now 400 card arts.

There are two additional foil layers, an improved wood theme, improved valid choice indication and a new fragments filter button.

I actually did most stuff on my todo list with this release. :D
Important will be to balance the difficulty of the game.
However you are not supposed to win every duel immediately, it should be challenging.

Enjoy! :)

I redesigned the filtering and sorting UI in the deck editor.
Takes less space and is more straightforward. :)
Will probably make release 0.8 with this tomorrow.

Re: Dreamwalkers latest release 0.8

When I released 0.7, I did not think there would be a new release 0.8 this soon.
But I had some good ideas to make the game more enjoyable.

The deck editor interface has improved a lot, see screens on Wiki.
Also the gameplay has changed for the better I think.
The inspiration mechanic is gone. The tutorial and help are updated.
There is a new cheat key, F9 will set the life of your opponent to 0.

Enjoy. :D

Thanks ubeefx. I tried the tutorial from 0.7 and for the first time was able to play a game. I'll check out the new one and let you know what happens.

Nice to hear the tutorial is helpful. :)

Release 0.9 is available on the Wiki. It has two user interface improvements.
  • The deck editor sorting and filtering is further tweaked.
  • There is a better indication for the target permanent of an item on the stack, see screens.
Enjoy.

Re: Dreamwalkers latest release 0.10

Release 0.10 is on the Wiki.
It has a fix so that a game can be ended properly after all dreamers are defeated.
I removed two themes to reduce the executable size, which I want to keep under 10 MB.
The artwork file also contains new art for the Muse minions.

tutorial

Postby mtgrares » 16 Sep 2011, 17:48

The tutorial helps out alot. The tutorial was a little confusing since it uses pictures to mean "target" and "opponent" instead of actual words. I also suggest that your "help" option should probably have screenshots like the tutorial, so the user can look and see what each part of the user interface means because I forgot the significance of the "filmstrip" icon, which I think are dream fragments but I don't know why they are important.

Keep up the good work. I like the new arrow lines that shows a card's target.

Nice work with the Tutorial Ubfeex,it improved a lot my understanding of the game, also really nice that you made it so easy to change names of the cards(I am certainly going to use it).

I don't get how irresistible ability works.

Extending the help page with more detailed game rules and more information about the UI is something I will work on.
so the user can look and see what each part of the user interface means because I forgot the significance of the "filmstrip" icon, which I think are dream fragments but I don't know why they are important.
A single card is called a fragment of your memory, basically something you remember like a certain minion.
You can cast or play these memories. The hand is symbolised by a filmstrip and represents your memory.
So that is the anology.

I like the new arrow lines that shows a card's target.
I am quite fond of them too.

also really nice that you made it so easy to change names of the cards(I am certainly going to use it).
Glad you like it. Feel free to share your work with other users.
Adding customization options is usually a good thing.
The customizable themes in Magarena were also very well received.

I don't get how irresistible ability works.
This ability ignores resistance of minions.
So a minion with irresistible can deal damage to a minion with resistance of it and can target or block such minions.
