ML3 Installation FAQs
Q: The game crash when I try to run it in Windows Vista/Windows 7?
A: Please be sure to put Magic.exe into the white list of your antivirus.
For Avast user, please put the location of the Magic.exe in the Trusted Processes white list in the Behavior Shield tab (example).
Try also to disable visual theme in the compatibility tab of the executable properties (right click on Magic.exe > Properties > Compatibility tab > select Disable visual theme option)
Q: Everything installs fine, but the text for the menus / cards is missing.
A: Restart your computer.
Q: Will these new cards be added to Shandalar?
A: No. None of the new features apply to Shandalar.
Q: Can I play in multiplayer with ML3?
A: You can, but multiplayer code was not modified since Manalink 2.0, so many new cards will not work or desynch the game. Check the Multiplayer Dueling section for initializing a multiplayer session.
Q: The download says the files contain a virus. Help!!
A: Don't worry. No viruses here. The Magic.exe program shuffles a lot of files around (including deleting files), so it sometimes gets recognized as a virus. Do not be alarmed, that program is perfectly safe.
Q: One card or Challenge/Draft is bugged, how can it be fixed?
A: Any card or bugged gameplay can be reported in the Bug section, please use the appropriate format described here for submitting a bug and if possible attach a screenshot or a savegame to it.
Usually bugs are collected and fixed every month unless it's a major gameplay bug.
Sealed/Draft mode for custom lists is still currently in progress and not available in 3.0
Q: When I try to unpack the file, all of them work except for "DraftSets" which gives me an error that says, "There is already a folder with the same name as the file name you specified. Specify a different name."
A: It's a window error, the file DraftSets is actually a simple text file which hold some card list for draft I suppose, but its file extension has been removed.
The issue is that Windows OS really don't like file with no extension and will confuse it with a folder and give such error due to archive software.
You can safely extract all files but this one, then extract it separately somewhere else if you want to then put it back into the ML folder, but this is not an essential file.
Q: How do you use the ingame DeckEditor to search for a card?
A: The ingame DeckEditor has 2 basic functions, it can search for the name of a specific card or a card with specific text.
To search for the name of a card, just type the first letters and as you type the DeckEditor will filter automatically the card alphabetically by name. The DeckEditor memorize your typing for a few seconds, so if you want to reset your search just wait for around 5 sec or you can hit the delete or direction keys (each hit will remove one search letter).
To seach for a card with specific text, use the lower left box to type your text and hit enter (lower and upper case doesn't matter, space matter and you cannot search several words at once, the string of text matter). To reset your search just erase the text in the box and left click anywhere else.
