ML3 Drafting

Drafting is an 8 player format (you and 7 computer opponents). Each player begins by opening a pack of 15 cards. Pick one, and pass the rest to the person to your left. Repeat until the pack is empty. Open another pack and repeat this process, this time passing to the right. Finally, repeat with a 3rd pack, passing left again. Players then build 40 card decks with the cards they selected, adding as many basic lands as needed.

To draft using this product:

  • Go to Solo Duel and check the Draft option.
  • Begin the Duel. It doesn’t matter which decks are selected. After mulligans, the draft should begin.
  • Draft begins choose 1- ignore rarity or 2- enforce rarity or 3- singleton
  • Select sets (the numbering system of the sets is the one of the csv Older to Modern)select 3 sets and then begin drafting your cards.(Be aware that some sets don't have enough cards to enforce rarity=(11+ Commons, 3+ Uncommons, 1+ Rares at least per set) or for singleton=120 cards coded at least). If a set doesn't have enough cards draft you will be warned for the error and draft will end.
  • Click the cards to draft your deck.Because this is simulated as a game after the selection of the cards, you win to end the selection and then proceed as follows:
  • Your deck is saved as Draft Human (0), and your draft opponents are saved as Draft Opponent 1-7. The numbers in parenthesis are the scores for their deck (higher is better usually).
  • Go to the deck editor, search for Draft - Human (0).dck edit your deck to get rid of the junk, add as much basic lands you want and make a 40 card deck(AI decks are also 40 card decks)or bigger if you like.
  • Unfortunately it is not automated, so then go to Solo Duel and select your deck and Draft Opponent 1.dck to Draft Opponent 7.dck and play solo duels!

OR

  • Another way is to remove your decks from the playdeck folder (save it in another folder)leave there only the draft decks and play Gauntlet.
  • After you're done playing, you'll probably want to delete the decks out of the Magic\Playdeck folder. You can do this by Delete Drafts.cmd(you can pick this up from Development-Draft development in ML3 topic or from CirothUngol posts in his signature)place it in your main magic/ folder.

Important Note: Remember to deselect draft button after you Draft the cards by click on none button so it doesn't trigger another Draft when you are ready to play the Solo Duels - Deleting this way your previous saved decks!!

Custom sets
Custom Sets are not yet supported.

Singleton Draft
Ensures that no 2 copies of a card are in the draft. (i.e. every card is unique). Rarity is ignored. If you decide to singleton draft the same set for all 3 packs, make sure the set is at least 360 cards (or 240 for 2 packs, 120 for 1 pack).
