Ok, mod's, if there is already a post on this or if this is in the wrong place, please do with it as you please (ie, move or delete).
For those of you who haven't heard the tragic news, Richie Proffitt, aka PolarBearGod on the MTGSalvation and StarCityGames forums, has passed away. He was 30. For more information, you can go here http://forums.starcitygames.com/viewtopic.php?t=310522 for the announcement on StarCityGames.com.

Thank you Blackstar, I know it wasn't easy bearing that news.
I'm in shock. He was one of the best members of this forum and one of the best people I've known, and now I'm out of words.

There have been talks on the MTGS forums of a Tournament to benefit his family as well as an art contest on the forums, so if I hear anything else about that I will be sure to update the tread.

PolarBearGod (I called him PBG) was one of the top, most respected members we had at MWSData.
He was more than a member, he was that rarest of breed, a valuable contributor. Whenever he posted I was anxious to see what he had written. Whatever he wrote was worth reading with respect, because you knew it was going to add something of note to the conversation. He was creative and original. And now he's gone, too damned young, while the old, hateful, mean bastards seem to live forever. As sad as I am now, I can't imagine how saddened must be his parents and family. This is a grievous loss to us all.
I retrieved this from his profile at MWSData:
PBG lived in Elizabethton, Tennessee
His website was http://www.playgamesinc.com
His interests were MTG, VS, Music, Art, & Basketball
And here are the tokens he shared with us
Tokens by PBG.zip (71.4 MB)
http://www.mediafire.com/?dtx3mddir2m
Although words fail, please post contact information as soon as possible so that I can properly send my condolences.
Rest in Peace PolarBearGod. I miss you.

Just heard about this.
No words can convey the deep sadness and frustration at this senseless loss of one who was so young! This is the kind of thing that sucks the very joy of life out of everyday living.
It's hard enough to get through each day. Life can be such a struggle, but this...
there is little that can be done to make it better.
To all his friends and family, my condolences!
Rest Well Richie.

'Twas in the bogs of Cannelbrae
My mate did meet an early grave
'Twas nothing left for us to save
In the peat-filled bogs of Cannelbrae.

RIP, I didn't knew him personally and/or on the boards. It's always devastating when something like this happens. Certainly at such a young age.

That really sucks
Does anybody still have a link to his photobucket account? He always kept a huge range of artist repaints, user repaints, and user-created cards that I'd like to archive for him.

i heard it was from complications of an infection in his foot or something like that. nobody thought it was serious at first, but, unfortunately, they couldn't have been more wrong.
RIP, PBG
