I want to give my appreciations to the hardworking crew that create these wonderful hi-res scans for the community. I don't know if my predecessors have ever mentioned anything or not (it was already in place by the time I started with the program) but we've been featuring the card scans for the OCTGN MTG platform and they've been very well-received by the players. So on behalf of the OCTGN community, thank you again so much for your work and dedication on this project.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I really appreciate the XLHQ versions as starting point for making Duels of the Planeswalkers card pictures. While it's true that the scanning pattern is more visible, having a larger image seems to give a better result after the usual Photoshop cleaning.
This is an example of XLHQ Stab Wound after cropping, cleaning, resizing (to standard DotP dimension) and DXT1 conversion (standard DotP pictures compression):

Well I'm not a Photoshop expert so I went by trial and error with the noise reduction options until I found a satisfying result. There was still a bit too much noise on the lady's neck but I didn't want to lose more details on the whole picture, so I applied the noise reduction once again only in that area (selected with the magic wand). I think there's no "magic recipe" for this task, maybe I was just lucky that I had to do it on a picture that didn't have lots of small details.
