How do I get the official DLC for the game?

Postby llf0cusll » 11 Nov 2012, 00:25

I have the torrented version from skidrow, and MANY of you're decks downloaded which I must say are very fun and nice to play with, special thanks to firemind and skullblakka's decks, much appreciated. Also BlindWillow. But anyways, I was wondering if there is some way I can get the DLC for the game as I have it on my xbox I would like to get it for PC too. Like I said I didn't pay for the game though, I just downloaded the torrent. ALSO, if it's not to much to ask for. I was wondering if there is also a way I can play planeswalkers 2013 online?, I know it's online I have it and play online with my xbox as I've said earlier, but since I don't have it through steam I can't play online. I've tried everything, if anyone knows how to do this please let me know and try to explain? I am a NET+, Security+, A+ certified computer technician so it shouldnt be to hard to explain things :).

p.s

Yes I have tried google =D, lol. But I can only find an outdated version of SmartSteam I believe it was 1.4.1?, if it isn't outdated it wouldnt work for me at least. IDK!!, someone help I want to duel people online! :).

If you search on google for theta's version 1.0dc120919 you should be able to find the Ravnica DLC included (but not the latest deck pack, that's too recent).

About playing online, I believe that someone tried on LAN, and discovered that all the involved players need to have the exact same WAD files installed. Maybe it could work even out of a LAN by using a software that emulates a LAN over VPN (Hamachi, for example), but that's just theory, I never tried and never heard of anybody who did.

(EDIT: You would need to make agreements with other players anyway, not just finding anyone who's online like in the original game.)

Ahh yes, Like the good ole' PSP days with Monster Hunter haha, (not sure if you know what I'm talking about) but yes, I think you're theory would actually work perfectly my friend, we should try it.

Also, I have another question. I'm really not sure so I need to ask, but if I get a legit copy of "Magic Duels of The Planeswalkers 2013" via "Steam", do you think it would conflict with my modded/torrent version of "Magic"?, the obvious answer would be no, because the files would be separate but, I don't really want to take that chance and ask someone who would know better... Because I really want to play online.

they wouldn't. Theta's version save in a completely different location (in the game folder actually)
While steam saves in the userdata folder within steam.
also personally, when I did buy the game I could not get my save to transfer to my steam (from theta) completely. I lost all campaign progress, all decks, and all unlocked cards with the exception of pack instinct being entirely unlocked. The only thing that stayed when I transfered the save was the aforementioned pack instinct unlocks, and my player stats.
This was with creating a new hash file (the old one didn't jive with the necessary name change)

I tried this with my friend on Steam, no lan connection needed, just the EXACT same wads
