What are the odds of you guys being able to introduce the EDH/Commander format in Forge? I think the biggest problem I see with this would be the creation of a command zone. I think I read somewhere that Forge doesn't really like it when you play cards from anywhere other than your hand and graveyard. Still I thought it was wort asking about. Either way, thanks for the great work.

My idea had been more inclined toward using Forge to manage an actual collection, and to test decks before sorting through thousands of cards only to find that that you only had one or two copies of a card instead of the 4 you thought you had. playing in gauntlet mode with a constructed deck is wonderful, but it doesn't address the issue of then being able to build that deck afterward with physical cards. I was thinking it would be simple to model it off the Quest mode because quest already has functions for maintaining both a collection of cards, and decks built from those cards.friarsol wrote:Why not just play Gauntlet Mode with a Constructed deck? It seems more suited to what you are looking to do.Draconas wrote:I was thinking it might be useful to have a secondary quest mode in which a player could import a list of their actual collection, update it as they acquired new cards, and build decks using this collection. this way a player could build and test decks knowing that they already have the cards to build it for actual play, without having to manually sort through all of their cards every time they want to build a deck.

I can't see how this would actually work though. You would still need to sort through thousands of cards and enter them into Forge. Back when I actually collected and played, I tried doing this into Magic Workstation and it was both impossible to maintain, and a waste of time. I know it sounds like it could work, but from experience it doesn't really work.Draconas wrote:My idea had been more inclined toward using Forge to manage an actual collection, and to test decks before sorting through thousands of cards only to find that that you only had one or two copies of a card instead of the 4 you thought you had. playing in gauntlet mode with a constructed deck is wonderful, but it doesn't address the issue of then being able to build that deck afterward with physical cards. The odds are good that Commander will be introduced, the odds that it's any time soon is less so. The command zone isn't the biggest problem, casting cards from outside your hand/graveyard isn't a problem at all. The biggest problem is all the small rules changes that playing Commander entails. Partial Paris Mulligan, Deck Editor changes, Commander special rules, etc.Darien Blaque wrote:What are the odds of you guys being able to introduce the EDH/Commander format in Forge? Remove card option in Draft deck editor? or is it something i'm missing.
I've deleted editor_preferred and it come back to normal. It seems the problem only appear after I've drafted the cards.

It looks like this is a bug actually. It should reset back to the other form when creating a deck in draft mode.yagi wrote:Remove card option in Draft deck editor? or is it something i'm missing.

Is there any way to filter for multiple sets in the deck editor?
Say I wanted to recreate the standard/block constructed/extended environment for a certain period? Or if I want to create a custom card pool with different sets from different eras.
addendum: I would also like the option to search for all the different sets that a card appears in, mainly to make it easier add more art variety for a certain card. Also I know that you can add the same card from multiple sets in the deck editor (hidden in forge but view-able in the .dck file), so I'd like the lazy option of making forge randomly pick which set to use for the card image.

There is work in progress on variants, but not sure when any of it will make it to a beta (or the daily builds in fact).ttdic wrote:Really want to have Planechase and Archenemy cards in the future.

Would it be good to have a generic effect.jpg card for those black effects that go on the playfield?

Would it be possible to fix the syntax for the general in the .dck files? That way I could make any commander .dck files I post forwards compatible.friarsol wrote:The odds are good that Commander will be introduced, the odds that it's any time soon is less so. If not, no biggy (it's not like I've posted many forgeable commander decks), but just a thought.

Yep, it's just a [commander] section, just like [main] or [sideboard].
So now you're
Screaming for the blood of the cookie monster
Evil puppet demon of obesity
Time to change the tune of his fearful ballad
C is for "Lettuce," that's good enough for me

Thanks. If I put a card in the [commander] section, then it won't appear in the deck in the current version, am I right?Hellfish wrote:Yep, it's just a [commander] section, just like [main] or [sideboard].
