Sets and Formats Filter

Postby Salasnet » 11 Dec 2012, 05:18

Can anybody explain to me why when you select one of the modern formats in the Filters area, you get cards from much older sets rather than the most current version of the card?

For example, I have the Filter set to "Standard (format)", yet the card Lure is showing as the version from 3ED, when this card is available in M12.

I can't seem to decipher why it does this for some cards (display an older version), while for others it displays the newer version.

Any help would be appreciated.

I wish I knew myself. The same goes for filtering by Standard--a more consistent method like the one you outlined would be better, imho.

As far as I know, the reason why it happened like that is that when the deck editor is opened, it is populated with a random version that the card appeared in, then the format filter just checks whether the card is available in the format, not just the current version. In the next beta (thanks to Agetian), a feature has been added in the deck editor preferences that allows you to show all versions of cards instead of just one. Shouldn't have to wait to long for the release.

I don't think there is anything random about it. I just started, quit, started, quit Forge three times and each time when I go to the Deck Editor, the version of Lure is the version from 3ED. This card is available in multiple core sets and expansions, yet it always shows as 3ED. If the deck editor populated with a random version, it is highly statistically improbable that it would always choose 3ED. :-)
