AI targeted me with Anaba Shaman ability when I had a Platinum Emperion on the battlefield.

Hello,

I am playing Flamekin Brawler and Pyre Charger. It seems that the AI has no idea that i can pump up their power, as their are some not so clever blocking decisions happening.

Greetings

Here's a test case for a rather weird AI attack. To reproduce it exactly, open this test state:

Code: Select all
ActivePlayer=Human
ActivePhase=Main1
AILife=21
HumanLife=18
HumanCardsInPlay=Plains;Plains;Island;Swamp;Swamp;Swamp;Phantasmal Fiend;Boreal Griffin;Zombie Musher
AICardsInPlay=Frostweb Spider; Seasoned Tactician; Boreal Centaur;Boreal Centaur;Plains;Plains;Plains;Forest;Forest
HumanCardsInHand=
AICardsInHand=
Then on your turn, attack with Boreal Griffin. The AI will prevent the damage. Then, on its own turn, it will attack with its Frostweb Spider and Seasoned Tactician even though it makes no sense (my creatures are untapped and I can either block both, or even gang-block one of them to kill it).

AI attacked with a 3/3 creature when I had a 3/1 creature with First Strike in play. Console message output showed "attacking expecting to at least trade with something".

Edit: Never mind. First Strike was not capitalized correctly on the card.

For something different, here's a surprisingly good play by the AI. Well, this one is slightly offtopic since it's tapping-related, not attacking/blocking, but it's still an interesting play.

(However, don't be fooled - the AI isn't really that smart, it simply activates its Quirion Ranger every time it notices one of its creatures is tapped, which in this particular case was a very good move.)

I have a Jace's Phantasm getting +4/+4 and Duskmantle Guildmage in play. AI has a 2 x Boros Elite, a Daring Skyjek, and a Doomed Traveler. I am at 3 life and the AI doesn't attack with any creature because the AI doesn't want to trade with my Jace's Phantasm.

In general since the AI is not taking Battalion bonuses into account in attacking decisions, the AI surprisingly does not play aggressive enough.

AI at 5 life, I attack with two 5/5 Jace's Phantasm and a 7/7 Wight of Precinct Six. AI has 2 x 1/1 Spirit tokens and a Cartel Aristocrat in play. AI blocks Wight of Precinct Six with one of the Spirit tokens instead of blocking it with the Cartel Aristocrat allowing one of my Jace's Phantasm to go unblocked and connect for lethal damage.

AI is at 5. I'm at 15. I attack with a 2/1 First strike Vigilance. AI has a few 1/1 tokens, but also has a 1/1 Skeletal Changeling that he has plenty of mana to be able to regenerate. Instead of blocking with the Regenerator and paying the mana, he chumps with the token and loses it.

I've noticed two things:

When I attack with a creature that has Annihilator, the AI will often sacrifice creatures instead of lands or other permanents that it can easily spare and essentially admit defeat. It would make a lot more sense if the AI sacrificed a different permanent and chumped with the small creature, in hopes that they could top deck a card that can deal with the creature with Annihilator. I guess what I'm trying to say is that when the creature with Annihilator is preparing to deal lethal damage on the next strike, the AI should always attempt to keep creatures in play to prevent itself from dying.

I also noticed that in a token deck, when I generated a lot of tokens (say ten or more) and placed
the Lure enchantment on a creature, that even though I would swing for an amount of damage that would be lethal, it instead deals no damage at all. It's happened several times and each time there was no effect on the battlefield that would have prevented the damage and I was swinging for more than enough to kill the AI.

Are you sure they aren't casting Fog or something and you aren't just skipping past the spell too quickly? I'd check the game log the next time this happens.

I attack with a 2/1, 2/2 Firebreathing (2 free mana), and a 2/1 First Strike. AI has a 1/1 and a 0/3 Pumper (but no mana). He double blocks the 2/1 with his 1/1 and 0/3, which at the very least deals him 2 extra damage. The 0/3 probably should be blocking the 2/1 First Strike.

Here's a scenario where the AI may have been able to survive an extra turn, but blocked improperly:

http://imgur.com/0yk4BpU

I attack with: 5/4 Trampler, 2/1 PumpKnight, and a 3/4. AI has 2/3 and 2/1. AI is at 5 life. It should be blocking the 5 trample damage with it's 3 toughness creature (to absorb maximum damage). And if I forgot to Pump my Knight than he survives at 1 life. Instead his 2/1 blocks the Trampler, and the 2/3 blocks the 3/4.
