Problem opening forge
by selesnyamage » 09 Jan 2013, 18:39
I apologize if this is in the wrong section. I downloaded the new version of forge last night, and it won't start. I looked in the log file and it says the following:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: res\preferences\main.properties (The system cannot find the path specified)
Is there any solution to this?

Did you get the most recent daily build or was it with the latest beta?
Not sure why this is happening, but first thing to try is just extract the archive again. Otherwise, grab the main.properties file from your previous working installation (nothing changed in that file recently) and paste it in the new installation folder.

Unfortunately, I don't have a previous working installation on my computer. What I got was the latest beta.
Edit: I decided to do a complete wipe of forge and reinstall it clean, and now it works from the latest release.
