Thank you Rares, I know that this was not an easy job. We should consider this a beta as it may need some more thought and discussion before it stabilizes into a finale form. It is a step in the right direction. Once again, thank you. :D

Give me about a week, team members, to finish the current questData file. I think that I have about 40 decks at this time + several other new ones to finish adding. I will then post the updated questData + questDecks-{difficulty} files here for all to test.

Re: MTG Forge - beta version

The quest files (questDecks-easy.txt, etc..) have just one random deck in them listed three times. I don't know which decks are easy, so you will have to make that decision and then add it. The quest files are required and the program won't run without them.

...

I'll notify DennisBergkamp about these changes once we figure out how to divide up the decks and know that the code is working.
I have tried out the beta version with the questDecks-{easy/medium/hard} divisions. Currently, I have 3 easy decks, 6 medium decks and 32 hard decks.

Would it be possible to have the Forge program check to see if the three questDecks-{easy/medium/hard} files are present?

If these three files are present, then use the new code system to determine which AI decks are chosen. If the three files are not present, then use the old code system to determine which AI decks are chosen.

This way we could release just the updated questData file to the people on google. The people who frequent this forum and who want to participate in this ranking beta will be given the three questDecks-{easy/medium/hard} files.

At some point, the three questDecks-{easy/medium/hard} files will have reached a level of completion that we can release these three files to everyone.

It easier to always require MTG Forge to load questDecks-easy.txt, etc.. On the next release that I post to Google, it will include the questDecks-easy.txt files as well as the new questData. While separating questData from the main program is possible, it is probably easier just to release new versions together, that way questData won't possibly use a newly added card that the main MTG Forge program doesn't have (I've had this happen on my home computer).

Should I "unsticky" this topic?

I think that we can continue to keep this and the other one stickied for the moment. This will be for the area for those who are interested in helping with creating and editing the quest decks. This is a good area for topics centering around decks.

We are moving to a point where your quest code and Dennis' code will be consolidated into one code base.

In the future, I will pm updated quest files to Dennis and he will include these files in future updates.

BTW: I now have a total of 60 decks.

60 decks is great. I've really enjoyed playing through the quest mode and I wasn't sure that that was possible. The different levels of AI decks really helps to make everything more enjoyable.

Some of the cards are getting annoying in quest mode like Soul and Essence Warden and Man-o'-War. Maybe we should have a restricted list of cards that are only used in one or two AI decks. Overall I'm still having fun and changeling is really helping me out, go Avian Changeling. I also like when the AI uses newer cards, it just seems more interesting.

Steward of Valeron is an amazing 2 drop. Since it makes mana AND has vigilance, you can often attack and then tap it for mana, insane.

I agree. :(

I'm trying to construct as many decks as I can. I'm now up to 75 total. =D>

At some point there will be enough easy and medium decks that I can remove/tone down most of the older "really-hard" AI decks. I have not had any spare time yet that I can dedicate to taking a long hard look at the problem decks.

I am trying to create some decks using those newer cards, it does help to make these decks look different from one another. These newer decks also help to make those bad decks appear less often. \:D/

The Darth Vador deck has 4 Man-o'-War, but this deck has 252 cards. I think that I will leave this one deck alone for now.

The Iceman, R2-D2 and Superman deck have 3 or 4 Man-o'-War apiece. The Iceman and Superman decks are very similar. I will tone down one of these decks and remove the other deck. That should help to minimize the appearance of the Man-o'-War monster.

I will also delete the R2-D2 deck as this is the Black Vise deck and is not fun to play against. I think that we now have enough decks in the questData file for me to delete a few of the insanely annoying AI decks. =D>

Let me see which decks have to many Wardens.

The Darth Vador deck has 4 Wardens, but this deck has 252 cards.

I will reduce the number of Wardens in these decks, maybe down to two Wardens:

Frodo has 4x Soul Warden
Morpheus has 3x Essence Warden
Picard has 3x Essence Warden
Spiderman has 4x Soul Warden

Yes there is a thin line between annoying and challenging and different people would rate something as annoying while others would rate is as challenging. (Usually challenging is good and annoying is bad.)

I can't play driving videogames because I am so bad at them. (Except for Need for Speed Underground, it was great.) I can't play Gran Turismo at all. I just don't get it, although millions of other people love it.

Honestly I don't see why either the wardens or the jelly fish are that annoying. They should be fairly easy to kill/get around. Black Vise is annoying I agree. Essence Warden merely makes the game take a little longer and Man O' War is not a key to anything but it does make those decks that use it slightly more viable against a rush deck. I'd say keep them.
