I too have had problems LOADING the program. It seems to freeze during the Loading Decks phase of the opening Forge logo. I even tried the new 1.5.1 link above, that did even open for me. I recently downloaded the Java requested and still no luck.

Hey Dun. I've had Forge freeze during "Loading Decks" before, and I traced it back to something I did. Since it's your first post I'm not sure if you're a new user or if you're having problems specifically with the newest version. Do you have a bunch of decks in your user folder? If you do, could you try moving them elsewhere and then launching Forge again?Dun wrote:I too have had problems LOADING the program. In two different games I've seen the computer target a land with the spells, magma jet and shredding winds to have the spell fizzle.

Yes, I am a fairly new user. I had been using the last two versions of Forge. It is possible that maybe I had screwed something up. I deleted all my old forge files. ill unzip again and try it all back from the start.Diogenes wrote:Hey Dun. Working with older cards here, but I seem to be having some problems with sources that provide multiple mana casting cards with "X" in their mana costs.
Examples I've experienced:
Rosheen Meanderer being used to cast Protean Hydra, Savageborn Hydra, Fireball, or Gelatinous Genesis.
Overgrown Battlement being used when there are multiple other defenders to cast Protean Hydra, Savageborn Hydra, Fireball, or Gelatinous Genesis.
Everflowing Chalice being used to cast Savageborn Hydra, Fireball, or Gelatinous Genesis.
In each of these examples, tapping the aforementioned mana sources will only provide 1 mana toward the cost of "X". It should be noted, though, that Overgrown Battlement has worked fine when it was used to pay a non-"X" mana cost, and has produced more than 1 mana. Everflowing Chalice seemed to work well when used in non-"X" conditions as well.
(This could not be tested for Rosheen Meanderer, as she can only produce mana for costs with "X" in them. This feature works fine for her, though, as she is unable to be tapped for those cards.)
A related issue was found casting cards with Multikicker -- specifically Everflowing Chalice. When Overgrown Battlements were used with two other defenders (so they should have produced 3 mana apiece), there was no remainder for the Multikicker; tapping the Battlement only covered one use.
Because the issue is with mana production, I was unable to find anything in the log about it. My apologies on that!

They added it in version 1.4.7 I think. LQ pics from magiccards.info:Marek14 wrote:Will you add From the Vault: Twenty as edition?

The rest of the mana should be in your mana pool. We just don't auto-apply all the mana to the spell.dancressman wrote:Working with older cards here, but I seem to be having some problems with sources that provide multiple mana casting cards with "X" in their mana costs.

Man, now I feel like such an idiot for not picking up on the fact that the mana symbols could be clicked too. Thanks for your help!friarsol wrote:The rest of the mana should be in your mana pool. We just don't auto-apply all the mana to the spell.
One more thing: if a card I have in one of my decks doesn't appear to be in the system, is there a place to suggest it? (The card in question is Drain Power.)

Not anymore. We only have about 300 cards total that are remaining. We know what they are, we know what the limitations are to adding them, each grouping is going to take some non-trivial amount of work to get them added to Forge.dancressman wrote:One more thing: if a card I have in one of my decks doesn't appear to be in the system, is there a place to suggest it? pretty terrible for Commander, even if an opponent has lethal on board for them the AI will attack the player, over and over.
This straight ruins multiplayer AI games.

If you don't have any saved decks then it's probably not what I encountered. Just to double-check, by default Forge saves decks and images the following location (in Windows, at least):Dun wrote:Yes, I am a fairly new user. I had been using the last two versions of Forge. C:/Users/<your username>/Application Data/Roaming/Forge/
Did you delete the contents of user\decks there, or just erase the contents of the Forge program folder? A quick way to get Forge not to load any decks at startup without deleting your User folder is to change the location of your User folder to someplace new. You can set this up by opening the file forge.properties.example in a text editor, look for this line:
userDir=
And change it to the following
userDir=./User/
And then save the file without the .example extension, so that it's just forge.properties. You can change it back if you want by just deleting forge.properties. In the case that you have decks in the roaming data folder, this might help.

Tested it,look like freezing problem has gone, thx for your hard workChris H. wrote:Forge freezing during a match bug
A number of people have reported this bug and we now feel that it may have been fixed in this version. Please play test this version and let us know.
forge-1.5.1-20130929.141743-2.tar.bz2
We will likely release version 1.5.1 in a few days.

However @version 1.5.1 look like it has problem in multiplayer's AI.In vanguard mode it seem like they never attack each other until human player die, though they sometime cast spell to cause disadvantage to each other,I don't see this problem in version 1.5.0.
