Forge Beta: 10-01-2013 ver 1.5.1

13328 cards in total.

Release Notes

- Forge freezing during a match bug -

A number of people have reported this bug and we now feel that it may have been fixed in this version. Please play test this version and let us know.

- Skinned titlebar for main window -
Titlebar is now skinned instead of displaying using standard OS window titlebar
Maximizing window now displays full-screen
Can use Layout > View > Titlebar (F11) to toggle visibility of titlebar (will also open full-screen if hiding titlebar)

- Forge now requires Java 7 -
Please update your Java runtime environment. At this point Forge versions 1.4.2 and above will no longer run under Java 6. Those who are using Mac OS should install the JDK version rather than the JRE version.

- The Mac OS X application -
At this time Forge now requires Java 7 and will no longer run under Java 6.

Unfortunately, the Mac OS X builder that we were using does not support Java 7. We hope to find and to use a different Mac OS X builder in order to continue releasing a Mac OS bundled application like we have in the past.

Currently, the windows/unix release of Forge includes a launcher file named "forge.command". Double click on the "forge.command" launcher command file and this will in turn launch the Forge jar file via the terminal application while increasing the Java heap space. This should be a temporary inconvenience.

Known Issues

ISSUES LIST | Open
Several people have noticed that the cards displayed on the battlefield will fail to be displayed when the number of cards on the battlefield increases. Maximizing the human panel can help to re-display the cards.

Some time was spent turning the static ETB triggers into the proper ETB replacement effects they should be, mainly to interact correctly with each other. This work is not yet finished. As a result there is currently some inconsistencies with "Enters the battlefield with counters" (Not incredibly noticeable).

A recent contribution to the code base should fix some of the bugs that people noticed with cloning type abilities. At this time there is one remaining issue that we hope will be addressed in the near future:
Copies of cards that setup Zone Change triggers via addComesIntoPlayCommand and addLeavesPlayCommand will not function correctly.

The Forge archive includes a readme.txt file and we ask that you spend a few minutes reading this file as it contains some information that may prove useful. We do tend to update this file at times and you should quickly read this file and look for new information for each and every new release. Thank you.

The archive format used for the Forge distribution is ".tar.bz2". There are utilities for Windows, Mac OS and the various *nix's that can be used to extract/decompress these ".tar.bz2" archives. We recommend that you extract/decompress the Forge archive into a new and unused folder.

Some people use the Windows application 7zip. This utility can be found at http://www.7-zip.org/download.html. Mac users can double click on the archive and the application Archive Utility will launch and extract the archive. Mac users do not need to download a separate utility.

Maybe I'm missing something terribly obvious, but I don't see how to select a custom user deck in a constructed match.

Can we make it more obvious that that label is actually is a drop down combo box? Even a right-aligned divot would help, though if it looked even more like a combo box, that would probably be good.

In creating a skinned combo that does not have jarring blue borders (see combos on New/Load Quest Screen) the button looks too wide and I could not work out how to narrow it. It extends JComboBox but with an optional drop down indicator and instead the mouse pointer changes and the border flashes to indicate that it might be worth clicking when hovering over it. It's FComboBox if you want to have a crack at it.

Cheers,
Steve.

Sorry about that Sol. I remove the names from the changes.txt file shortly after the beta release and then add names to a temp file as I see them appear on the show changed files page.

You do make commits when you can and you do provide a lot of help on the Forge forum here at CCGH.

Can't cast Thoughtcast. had blue mana and a load of artifacts and clicking the spell in hand had no effect. Certainly worked fine about two versions ago not sure I have used it more recently than that.

Not sure what was going on here I have used Thoughtcast fine in games several times since this including casting using affinity.

The copies made by my Myr Propagator don't seem to have a converted mana cost other than 0, at least not for the purposes of Bosh, Iron Golem 's ability.

Infect creatures should deal all damage in form of poison or -1/-1 counters. When I sacrificed a Viridian Betrayers to a Mortarpod in order to deal 1 damage to my opponent (who had 9 poison counters, so the betrayers hab infect), it dealt regular damage.

Edit: It did work as supposed with a Glistener Elf. So the problem seems to be specific to the Viridian Betrayers.

Buying cards in the Spell Shop in Quest mode dramatically increases memory usage until Forge does respond anymore. With this new version I have got a reproducable bug. The game got slower with every match in Quest mode and finally did not respond at all. So I started the Windows Task Manager and observed the memory usage. This is what I saw:

Before 1. match: 389M
After 1. match: 481M
After visit in Spell Shop (bought ~40 cards): 773M

After 2. match: 763M (was higher after first game)
After visit in Spell Shop (bought again ~40 cards): 1094M

After 3. match: 1163M
During visit in Spell Shop (bought some boosters): game did not respond

I am using a machine with 4G RAM and had no issues with buying cards with any other version. However, I already posted a message to "Feature Requests" stating that buying cards is very slow. This may be caused by the large number of cards that I own (~69M).

I was under the impression that a token copy always had a CMC of 0.

So... I posted in the now locked thread for the snapshot build of the Theros additions with a rules "correction" on Polukronos. However, the judge I received a ruling from corrected his stance here:
https://twitter.com/JosephBono/status/3 ... 6482032640

I am unsure whether the logic was changed due to my previous post or not, but I figured I should post a re-correction.
