what about limmited format challenges in the quest mode; they can be pay to play, so you can keep the cards (and that could leave to escenarios of picking up the rares instead of a high priority pick in a booster draft) or sealed challenges where you play for all the rares :P

this one is interesting. I don't like Sealed/Draft because I could be progressing towards on my quest. That way you progress on your quest AND do different things instead of just playing the same matches all the time.

Since the quest credits are roughly the same as real world money (dollars), the entry price could be the same as playing a real world sealed (you pay for 6 boosters plus usually 1 for prize) or a draft (you pay for 3 boosters and 1 for prize)

this also opens the possibility to hold your boosters (the ones you win after each match) without opening, which then could be used as payment for your sealed games. you could also buy the booster packs on the shop and sort of pay the limited game in parcels.

For EDH, being able to generate random decks for the AI could be done similar to how its done at falconsyndicate_net/EDHGen.aspx (sorry for the underscore but being a new user I can't post URLs yet).

The feature I'd really like to see, which it's suprising it's not implemented yet, seing as it's almost trivial with the current multiplayer fetures, is plain free-for-all multiplayer. Seeing as stuff like Commander, Planechase, and Vangaurd all work, this seems rather trivial to add. And it's a vital format that is fun to play and there is no reason for it not to be in Forge.

Or even better, free team multiplayer. With Archenemy, AI has to have some concept of "teammates"... Plus, when playing against AI, there's no reason to limit game to "fair" teams of equal sizes.

Marek14:
I agree with you that what you suggest would be awesome. However, care should be taken to distinguish the two things. Plain old Free-For-All is all but implemented already, it just needs to be made accessible. Beyond that, a cool feature would be team play, and that feature request is a good solid one that I'm sure will be implemented someday (even someday soon), and I wholeheartedly approve of requesting it as a feature.

But the first, almost trivial thing I request is that the tweak be made that lets us use the same code that we use every time we play planechase, vanguard, or commander, just without the planes, vanguards, or commanders.

Hi,
2 old favourite wishes from me that a dev might find cool enough to work on now:
- option to play best of 5, preferably to be acquired in the quest shop
- option to have your starting pool to be COMPLETELY random: you start with n cards, each is randomly selected from the complete magic card pool. I think this would lead to more interesting quest starts than currently is the case

thnx!

PS
one day i will more time at hand and finish my ravnica world and build a few more. Hopefully by that time there are also devs that want to work on a structured quest mode (complete game experience) and all the (crazy) ideas that are associated with it :D

It would be also nice if Planechase and Archenemy (and maybe even Commander) weren't considered "variants". Does a deck included in the game contain Planes? Planechase rules are in effect (and if other decks don't have planes, we're going for shared planar deck). Does a deck have Schemes? It plays by Archenemy rules. Does a deck have commander? Play by commander rules. That way, all of them could be potentially mixed in a single game. Plus, you could get Archenemy or Commander opponents in quests etc.

...as it happens, this particular wish meshes pretty well with something I've been thinking of recently, and, in fact, that something the biggest single factor that brought me back here. There was one Quest startup feature I was missing: the ability to pick a favorite color when you start a new Quest (as in the Shandalar game), and the card distribution you get initially would be slightly skewed towards your chosen color (if you choose one). If I start tweaking the relevant code, adding the option you want might not be a big extra task. (I assume, haven't really dived into the sources yet.)

There's an "if" involved, though. I've been away from Forge for a long time, and it might take me a while to study the current source before I dare to try tweaking it again.

if you're going to implement this you might as well apply to any card pool selection. that way anyone can start any card pool (except draft/sealed) biased towards a color

For many pop-ups during the game, I have to use enter (or click on 'ok') in order to advance.
I'm used to using the space-button to advance phases and confirm choices, but sometimes I'll have to use Enter, which kinda annoys me.

Is there a way for the space button to always confirm pop-ups?

I was planning to work on updating the appearance of popups to use the skinned frame in the near future, so I'd be happy to add support for spacebar confirmation while I'm at it.

Not a huge issue but could you implement a password for each human player at the start of a round? It'd be great if that human's hand display was blank until a password was entered and that switching hand tab would lock them both again. That'd help stop players looking at each other's hands when hot seating.

That seems excessively complicated, why not suggest showing a popup with "Player X's Turn" on it and hide all players' hands until "OK" is pressed? That would give you the time you need at the beginning of a turn, but seeing each others' hands seems unavoidable if player A wants to respond to player B's play at any time.
