trouble connecting to fiends with modded decks
by thepiebaker » 18 Nov 2013, 02:42
Ok so from what i understand in order to play alongside friends with the modded decks both players need the same .WAD files and decks. We have that and all up to date but when we try to join the hosts game crashes then leaves a dmp. file. anyone know what we're doing wrong.
we're both using the steam version of the game, btw.
I'd post the dmp but this site apparently does not allow that

The dump is useless to us. To make sense of the information in it we would need the source code of the game, which we haven't.
I assume you have the modded d3dx9_43.dll in place and are using the Steam version of the game, not the cracked one.
I have been playing fine with the Steam version using the modded .dll, but I had some issues with some custom wads here. My advice is to remove all custom content and host/join a game, then add custom content in small batches until you find out which one is crashing, then remove it. Most modders do not play online so they do not test their mods in multiplayer and some mods can make the game crash when someone joins.
I have been playing online using the following mods:

and I have no problem except the unavoidable minidump when the match is over.
