Magarena seems to become more sluggish the longer a game lasts. Not the AI, but the interface. After 10-20 turns, buttons are slow to respond, and after any action it takes a second for targetable cards to be highlighted. I've never had slowdown issues with Magarena before, as I have a decent computer (the AI feasts on processing power, but that's a given).
I noticed there have been some major interface changes since I last played, so I went back a version to check. And it looks like the slowdown was there even in version 1.44, which is when the game log was made to be always visible. Maybe that's related?

Thanks. Can you try hiding the log by clicking on the log titlebar and see if that makes a difference. Also once it starts getting sluggish, can you post a screen shot. Hiding the log has no effect on the game speed. I actually always play with it hidden, since I've set the message times to 0, so the constantly scrolling log was distracting. And I've learned to play without the log already.

Tried with minmax, vegas (cheat) and MCTS (cheat), levels 2 and 6 for each. Same result. On higher AI levels the thinking time is longer, but the slowdown seems the same.

1) Orzhov Keyrune become 1/4 white and black Thrull artifact creature TAPPED.
2) When I click mouse on Options Button on Linux OS in Magarena, options dialog disappears and appears again (blinking effect).
Esc button on keyboard does not blinking options dialog.
3) Azorius Keyrune also tapped.

If you pay the activation costs of Keyrunes with their own mana ability, they will be tapped.

playing the ver 1.46 from buildhive.
when i choose to search for land in library, nothing comes up.
this has something to do with UI changes, maybe ?

I renamed the second hand icon from "Other" to "Hand : Computer" which I now see was a mistake since the second hand icon is used as a catch-all for anything that is not defined in the other icons - it can be used to show the computer's hand but it can also be used to show the player's library. This "Other" icon seems like a bit of a hack to me but I don't have time to look into it now so unless anyone has any objections I will undo all the recent changes so that the icons are ordered as before.hong yie wrote:playing the ver 1.46 from buildhive.

can we keep all of them?
3 hands, 1 for player, 1 for Ai's, 1 for searching. Who knows we might can expand Magarena to support 4 players mode like "2 headed giant". if this solution seems difficult to be done, rollback to previous version might be the fastest way to solve this temporary.

An additional icon would require a change to the layout. Which is doable but probably for the future. For now I think the easiest solution is to rollback the changes.hong yie wrote:can we keep all of them?

FYI and related, I am currently looking at how to improve the presentation of cards to the user. See the sample screen shot which shows the players hand at the start of game and which is used take mulligans and select the initial hand. This expanded view can be used for all areas - hand, graveyard, exile and even the library, which could be accessed via the library icon below the player image, thus alleviating the need for an additional icon anyway.
