Steam DoTP 2014 and Modded Multiplayer?

Is it possible for my friend and I to play with the new set cards with mods using Steam DoTP 2014?
Will we get banned for using these mods and playing online? Should I use a separate steam account to be safe?

so long as you keep it between the two of you, it will be fine. any moderator will tell you also that you both need the exact same data, wads, stuff like that or it will crash. but you wont get banned as long as its just people you know and its not a public game.

It only detects public games or what for modding?

I have 2012, 2013 and 2014 all completely modded, even played a few matches online with modded campaign decks for testing purposes and have never gotten a warning. Modded decks only work with those that have the same decks as you and as long as you are not doing dubious things with hacked decks you should be fine.

whenever i tried to play multiplayer, the lag was so bad it was unplayable..did you guys ever get this problem ?

no its the same as a normal game you just have modded decks. setup and play is all the same, but the only real difference game wise is that you have different decks to play with. you just need to have the same mods in your game folder, like if you were to sort through everything then email your friend each mod they must download in order for the game to be "compatible" to yours, just like if you dont download the literal DLC stainless steel made then you cant play multiplayer. except this crashes your game if you dont get it all rightJakeCourtney wrote:It only detects public games or what for modding?

Yes, I was having this issues with 2013, that is why I make a copy of the game and keep my mods in one and the other one clean in case I want to play online. The more modded the game directory the more lag you experience to the point where you can't even play lands. Unfortunately I mod almost all my mods so they are not the original ones either.
